However he has failed at fullback. His metres gained are skewed from all those dummy half runs that he does. For a solid defender Hopoate has been caught out defensively due to his lack of pace at 1.

Different type of pace needed at centre. IE you don't have to be as fast. Ask Justin Hodges.

Where did I say he was too slow ?

He looks much more comfortable at centre and his defensive reads are very good, he also has good hands and can set his winger up, just look at what he did for Semi last year.

I think its just a simple fact that he plays well at centre but not so well at FB, regardless of his pace or lack of.

Forwards look settled but my gut tells me there might be a 'Kelepi' like departure still on the cards.

I reckon there's still going to be a heap of changes in the backline.

Even though Takaraingi has been extended it wouldn't surprise me if we signed someone like Simona who has great speed and footwork. I like Taka but he's been burnt a few times on his outside by quick centres like Gagai and Morris. It's a definite weakness. Hoppa also not the quickest.

I'd re-sign Robinson because he's bloody quick and a great finisher and a good cheap back-up even though he has a few errors in his game.

We really need to decide what we're doing with Norman/Sandow. Can't see Norman being happy to play fullback and he just doesn't have the speed required.

Speed, speed, speed and more speed is what you need 1-5.

They probably thought he may have adequate speed. A bit like Wade McKinnon before the Hayne years however have realised that he hasn't.

How could they be wrong about a player's speed? They measure it at training in every conceivable situation. The only thing they can't measure at training is how players perform when faced with legitimate pressure and aggression.
