What are all your thoughts on Foran and what he has done this season

Hoping it's the injury, but he's been pretty ordinary. Lucky to get a run in the NZ side in the halves in front of Marshall on form. Hell, Marshall should have been picked in front of Johnson on form - and that's something I never thought I'd say after watching Benji come back to NRL last year. Credit where it's due, and maybe McGregor deserves some of the credit for getting him to change the way he plays a bit...

Johnson and Foran have been disappointing so far

Manly's pack has been decimated with injury. Better judges than me say all the time that the No.6 & 7 will always struggle behind a pack that is being dominated.

With Foz being injured for much of the first 7 rounds and Manly coming last, it's a bit harsh to say he's done f**k all this season.

could be the fact that he wants to move on and his heart is not at Brookie

Perhaps... but yeah, there's that, the injury and the fact that as others have mentioned, he's playing behind a pretty miserable pack of forwards for the most part... combine all those factors and I can imagine he ain't really enjoying his footy at the moment

I think for the players we have bought and the money that they would be on, so far our recruitment has been geniused.

To be fair, any good judge finds your take on most things league related geniused.

You always bang on about halves, we sign one of the top 5 halves in the world (who is only 24), and you call it geniused. Oooook.

guys, 3 years ago we were signing players like Daniel Harrison, carl webb and chris hicks.

I wouldn't be whinging that we have players like Scott an Foran coming.

Exactly right. Plus the elephant in the room here is that the world's best player left us high and dry just before 2015 pre-season was about to start.

We would be cracking heads with the leaders if the chosen one was still on the books. I bet Ram would not be bitching then.

The Scott signing is fine if you look at it in its own right... but when you consider we already have a player on the mature side of 30 who is also on big coin who was brought in to add experience and attitude, that's where I have misgivings.

I'm a big fan of the Foran signing, no 2 ways about that one... but having 2 blokes in the backrow that will be 31 and 32 in 2016 taking up something like a million bananas in cap space makes me a tad sceptical.

The best forwards in the game are all on the mature side of 30. Here's the Aussie pack:

8. Scott (30)
9. Smith (32)
10. Woods (24)
11. Bird (31)
12. Thaiday (30)
13. Parker (33)
14. Lewis (32)
15. Merrin (26)
16. Myles (30)
17. Tamou (27)

Rumours doing the rounds that Elgey is off to Manly.

They'll probably be having a sniff around for Norman and Sandow now.

Noted.

None of those are going to be playing for us in 2016 and beyond though... Merrin would have made a better target... though 700K per year that he's supposedly getting from the Panthers is excessive...

This would be a worry if it were true....at the end of the day , he is still contracted to Manly so you would expect 100% attitude as a professional employee.
I don't for a second believe this to be the case though

this.

australian test selection is not a contract over 2-3 years.

negotiations of paying a worthy contract is dependant on what they player will produce over the entirity of that contract term

i'm concerned like most here that we're tying up alot of money on some aging backrowers that could possibly be poor players on their final contract years.

i would imagine and hope the club is investing in this strategy to instill the leadership and cultural change required to foster the next crop of young forwards coming through.

it's the only way it makes sense to me.

Watmough and Scott are mobile players that can play long minutes and put in a good performance. It allows players like Jnr Paulo and Tepai to be explosive players that can come on for only 20-30 minutes and really dominate the ruck. Scott also plays on the edge, personally I don't think that outside of Ma'u we have a player good enough to defend on the edge.

Moeroa will take over from Lussick's middle role next year of defensive enforcer and will probably be able to provide more in attack too.

Jackson Hastings anyone ?

Appears to have an big ego and apparently on the outer at the Roosters. But can play fullback. Probably not experienced enough but, however could give us options if our first options for half/fullback don't perform in 2016. Probably wants to much as well
