LOL I love the "age" argument that always comes up when discussing a potential recruit on this forum.

People are literally saying no PURELY because he is 35 LMAO how in depth! Clearly a lot of rational thought is behind this....

Definitely don't take into consideration his current form, his level of professionalism with regards to his preparation and recovery with his body, the fact that he debuted late, has had very few injuries/wear and tear on the body, the INVALUABLE experience he brings having won 2 Grand Finals (keeping in mind virtually everyone from our 2010 squad has either retired or moved on) etc. But he's 35 so no, just no!!!!

Jeremy Smith likely to stay with Knights

http://www.theherald.com.au/story/31...w-deal/?cs=306

Knights enforcer Jeremy Smith set for new deal By BRETT KEEBLE June 4, 2015, 10:30 p.m.

THE Knights are on the verge of re-signing former Kiwi Test enforcer Jeremy Smith to a one-year contract extension.

The 35-year-old lock was also considering offers from the Dragons, with whom he won the 2010 NRL premiership, and Sydney Roosters. Smith reportedly knocked back Newcastle’s initial bid of about $150,000 last month, but the Knights increased their offer after Joey Leilua exercised a get-out clause from the final year of his contract, which freed up space under their salary cap.

The Newcastle Herald was told on Thursday night that Smith was ‘‘likely to agree to terms’’ for another year, which would almost certainly see out the end of his NRL career. Smith, who joined the Knights from Cronulla at the end of 2012, was considered a priority retention target after fellow hard man Beau Scott announced he would leave the club at the end of the year to join Parramatta.

The veteran forward has missed the past two games because of a sternum injury which is likely to keep him out of their game against Canberra at Hunter Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

I think the Dragons got the best out of Smith and he was instrumental in our 2010 title. Good luck to him for securing a deal to see out his career. Had we signed him I doubt he would have been in our top 17.
