Im sure its been said before but its time to go back to one. IMO it has not improved any part of their performance. Watching the AUS v NZD game a few weeks ago was refreshing seeing one ref run the show.
What are your thoughts on two refs?

Is that enough of a sample size to make that call though?
I think like people calling for video refs to be removed, you would find the impact of them not being there is far greater than people realise.
imo it has been quite obvious two refs haven't improved anything.
This is the fundamental part of the argument. It all comes down to a subjective opinion of course.
I think it has gone a long way towards removing the wrestle and speeding up the ruck.
In the last two ANZAC tests some real howlers, like players dropping the ball from a kick off have been missed by one ref.
I also think its a great way to blood younger refs.

It might help if you took the whistle off the pocket ref and left him to be like a roaming touch judge. It wouldn't be that different to what we have now but it may minimise the mixed messages they can give off on occasion now since the pocket ref seems to take control for parts of the game.
Just a consequence of going back to one ref to consider is that the the ten metres would become more inconsistent, as it is the ref can take his eyes off the ruck for a moment to check the onside and not miss anything. Taking away the pocket ref could limit the refs ability to keep a good defensive line.
Refs get 100k last I saw.NRL Ref is in some occasions a 180-200k a year job for the top tier refs, going back to one is going to cost some people a top paying job.
