Our backline seemed to be going ok until we copped a heap of injuries all at once.
And Sandow decided to give up.

Hoppa and Taka have set up some wonderful tries this year.
Semi is Semi.
Norman and Foran are very good halves.
We have Fairaimo and possibly Robinson who have both handled themselves well this year.

I don't see too much of a problem with our backline unless we cop a heap of injuries again.

How good would they look in our team this year?

True - I've always thought that the Cowboys have a fairly pedestrian backline ....however they do have a future immortal at half ....Origin 5/8th....a number 9 that will more than likely take over Cameron Smith for Qld , not to mention several internationals in the forwards ......it is possible to be a top side with an average backline though ....but you need a bevy of internationals to make up for it ....

You are half right. Hopoate only has 2 try assists to his name. Taka is doing better with 7.

I reckon spending so much time at fullback has kept that number down for Hoppa.
Also he has spent time out for Origin.
Expect it to be higher next year with a better half inside him and a full offseason at centre.

A fullback should have more try assists than a centre.

Without collating all of the stats just a quick run through it appears he's missing around 2-3 tackles a game. Probably not a strong defender, even for a half but probably average.

*EDIT* He's missed 37 tackles in the 17 games he's played this season. So that's an average of 2.2 tackles per game he misses. Ben Hunt misses 2.8 per game. Hodkinson misses 2.3. Jeynolds 2.6. Austin 2.3. DCE 1.7. Cronk 1.7.

So yeah he's probably average when it comes to defence for a half.

Interesting to see how his defence goes with Sandow no longer the defensive line target and if he gets moved to the right side next year.

It doesn't mean he can't kick, it means it's harder. It is probably also a reason why DCE does the majority of the kicking.

do you reckon Foran plays on the left cos DCE prefers the right?

maybe Foran would prefer the right too? - but he just does what his team needs

Mr T is top of the list for try assists for centres. Hoppa not so, but probably would have a few more if he had Robinson as his winger, he has given some nice passes to his winger (mostly Morgan) and sadly they haven't positioned themselves correctly to get it.
