The way I understand it Rooster and Rabbitohs historically was more like the QLD rivalries and plenty of fans would support either if their team was out of it. Hence why there a lot of old school players who have played for both.

The hatred has really only kicked off in the last 20 years or so, really started bubbling up when Rabbitohs were in the dumps and Roosters were flying through the Fittler era. But it has absolutely peaked now with both clubs on top

Mate Ron Coote was sent a dead rabbit in the mail by a souths fan after he switched to the roosters with a note stating something along the lines of "This was our pet rabbit Ron Coote. He is now as dead to us as you are".

The hatred has been there forever

If Pearce is back, that helps all the other teams. Hastings' kicking game is better than anything Pearce would have done.

Lets see how the Roosters go without JWH against the top sides. Still think anyone of the top 3, plus add Melbourne, Dogs can win this year. It is a very open comp.

Well we beat you lot without him so I assume you aren't including the Broncos as a top side?

Spot on IMO.

What is it with you boncos fans having to flood the game day threads of matches you aren't competing in to trump up your credentials? Feeling a bit nervous about your team beginning to stumble?

I rate Hastings that highly, no surprise when Pearce went off you stopped bombing it straight to the fullback. Hastings provides one thing Pearce doesn't have- a kicking game, and also control.

Whether you can win a semi without JWH is another thing to winning a Round 24 game so to speak. JWH is the best prop in the game, he is a massive loss.

Believe me, I have said all season Brisbane are 12 months away, you won't ever see me say we are the favourites. We are a year away from our halves clicking consistently.

The Roosters will probably be too good here, but I feel they are vulnerable in Week 1, especially against the Sharks forward pack.

I would seriously lol at that. The Rorters losing in Week 1 really would crack the comp wide open

We don't want the roosters losing week 1. Keep them on the other side please. Hope someone beats them in the Qualifying Final/Preliminary Final (whatever you want to call it)

If things stay the way they are, that would be the Cowboys at Allianz

Pearce's kicking game is much better then Hastings. Hastings' short kicking game is just superior but Pearce's long one is streaks ahead, and rightly so he's been playing 7-8 years longer.

I hope Pearce is back, a bloke coming off a hamstring in a final...and Pearce is limited. Fantastic in defence but his kicking game is very inconsistent. Hastings' short kicking game is elite, you win finals off repeat sets, pressure, etc.
