Despite the public backing, Gould will let Idris leave.

Second tier players are paid a base salary and get match payments if they play first grade. Its almost like a commission based job.

...I recall this time last year when we had signed Beale and were chasing SKD to add some strike to the backline... Idris would do similar things... Can imagine him on the inside of Feki. Holy shit!

$440,000 is the second tier cap.

So, as I understand it. If a bloke gets $40,000 a game (yeah, unrealistic but easy for the example) and plays 12 games in first grade he will be entitled to $480,000 and the second tier cap is blown.

Works the same if there are 4 blokes on $10,000 who play 12 games each.

It's why clubs can't just give everyone "a go" and try to keep to the top 25.

There are 2 backs that would make a difference to us, Hopoate and Idris.

Not sold on Idris. Big gamble. Doesn't even want to play Footy. Plus often overweight and injured.

there is no other big name on the market worth signing. hoppa for sure but he's said no. we're already struggling to fit everyone in th 17 so why waste money on overpriced hacks like teo and idris. our back rows jam packed as it is, our halves are covered. hookers in ennis, brown and young brailey. wing is where we lack a quality and tested finisher. centres are sorted and so is fullback. id rather see them keep recruiting talented youngsters. remember next year with th interchange rules wrecking balls will be near extinct. we've near got th best 80 min juggernaught in fifita when he wants to turn it on. not to mention his twin brother. someone like vidot would be a nice purchase but other than that, i dont see th need to spend money where its not needed.

Not sure if you watched the final against the Cowboys.. But our old forwards got completely out played and out enthused by big, mobile and fast younger guys who won't struggle at all with the reduced interchange. I'd be more worried about our 30+ year old guys being a year older next year struggling with the reduced interchange. We definitely need a young mobile prop and second rower.

the only 30+ forwards we have are gal, lewis and heighington. two of them recent australian players. we just got beaten by a premiership winning team. sene-lefao should add some starch to th bench with a similar playing style to taga. dont get me wrong i think we could do with another prop and winger, but unless we pull someone out of a contract i dont think theres many players left on the market to get excited about
