One's a two time Dally M winner who thinks he's good enough for the NRL. The other isn't.

Why would Foran cost as much as Hayne? Would you offer them the same amount? Do you reckon any club would?

You're keen for others to explain their opinions. Let's see you back yours up. Why would Foran possibly be worth as much as Hayne?

You've seen what the same bloke offered Hopoate...who knows how much he ended up having to pay Foran for the next 2 seasons, of which apparently will all be under the cap.

I'd be surprised..actually shocked, if we paid The Plane more under the cap than we will pay Foran

Like I said, we missed his playing ability. There's no evidence that we missed his influence on the other players though. Meanwhile Corey Norman grew another head. Or was it his leg?

What evidence could we provide that he influenced other players? It's a pretty hard thing to quantify.

I have agreed with everything Avenger has said.
We'd be stupid not to try and get Hayne back.
Just in season ticket sales, it would be a massive bonus. Add to that merchandise and publicity, and it's a no brainer.
I will be so disillusioned with the game if he came back to the NRL and ended up at a club like the Roosters, who couldn't afford RTS, yet could afford Hayne.
It makes a mockery of having a salary cap at all. Yet, we all know how that plays out. We've been whinging about the Broncos since 1988. It's exactly why 3rd party agreements circumvent the salary cap and make it uneven. Try and compare the corporate support of the Roosters for eg, against that of the Raiders, or the Tigers.
In saying that, I don't think the NRL has an agenda to keep the Roosters successful. They just won't stand up to Politis.

Just a few things:

I believe Hayne won't be playing NRL next season. He's had a taste of NFL and sponsors that have come on board because of that.

If he does go to the roosters, how is that possible?? They could not afford RTS and could not afford Maloney. Hayne is worth triple each one of those guys. How could they possibly blame the salary cap for losing those two players and yet expect to sign Hayne? Just doesn't compute.... Computer says NOOOO

Pau - Whether you think Hayne or Foran is a better player is irrelevant.

Hayne was our marquee play and now Foran is and marquee payers generally get paid pretty well. I think it is highly unlikely that we are paying much less for Foran than we are for Hayne. Foran is in the upper bracket of players that demand high $ to begin with. Then you have to add in the "come to a shit club like Parra" tax and pretty soon you are talking fairly high $.

The reality is that no-one knows. However, my sense is that Bigfella et al. are closer to the mark than you on this one.

Mate, I've learnt years ago to just accept it.... It will happen and they can definitely fit him in

No I'm keen for you to justify why you present conclusions and assumptions as if they are facts.

Well I appreciate that you read them as facts, but here's a hint - everything I say is my opinion. I hope that makes you feel better.

We both know the reason is that you are intellectually dishonest and a f**kwit.

Resorting to ad hominem now?

I'm not the one claiming that Foran is being paid less than Hayne and by more than enough to fund an additional first grader.

If I was to speculate - I wouldn't present my speculation as an assertion of fact.

Well don't worry. If you did I would be sure to read it as such and then endlessly piss my knickers about it. ;-)

But if I did speculate it would seem very likely that Foran will be the eels highest ever paid player, based on media reports that he will be paid more than 1
Million per season.

I'm sure he is our highest paid player. And if Hayne had re-signed for next year do you think he would be on less?

In addition, there were media reports following the debacle with his contract that suggested any third party aspect of his contract will be denied and the entirety allocated under the salary cap.

And did they have any proof or was it just some journo's opinion? ;-)

But you think he would have paid Hayne less than market rate? You can't have it both ways.

And again, why would Hayne have been exempt from this tax after five years of missing the finals?

I don't know what you guys are worried about. If Hayne wanted to leave the Eels, he would have left ages ago.

And there's the elephant in the room. The guy left us while still under contract. If he comes back it means he's not happy earning practice squad money, in which case money is very important to him. In that case he will cost a metric f**kload of money.

If Hayne returned for season 2016 how do you think he would go? Would he need a season to adjust to the game again or change his body which is now suited for NFL?

If he came back he would need to run more upright and take off the pads
