Hey people my little equation on how I think we can afford Sam and Gi and have a good balanced team.
You guys can put names to my cap equation and see how you go.

The cap for 2016 is 6.8 million

2x950k = 1.9 million
3x480k = 1.440 million
10x240k = 2.4 million
4x120k = 480k
2x100k = 200k
4x80 = 380k

25 players for 6.8 million this is without third party deals.

Wow.

Another rubbish thread without a shred of fact.

It's only a basic equation on how we fit marquee players.
The talk all around the forum is that we need to let go of basically every player because of Sam's arrival.
I see a lot of doom and gloom talk that we made a mistake signing Sam, when we obviously missed him last year. Why didn't Dylan walker step up last year or Chris McQueen or Tim grant???? As far as I'm concerned I only expect 100% effort when it comes to the red and green anything less you are expendable.

I'm not saying let every player go.

Grant and McQueen to go before next season.

Grevsmuhl to possibly leave after 2016.

After 2016 AJ and McInnes may go too.

There is a chance Keary may go too for more money elsewhere in 2017.

going by that, you would have 2 players outside of the top 17 who are on $480,000 each. i wouldn't do it that way at all, because with the team at full strength, it would be a waste of too much coin on the sidelines, and it means the top 17 wouldn't be as strong as it could be. in the 25 man squad, the 8 players outside of the top 17 should be on the nrl minimum wage. some of those players would be good though, but would be cheap because they are young and have played no or little first grade before. some of them could be older players who played well the year before in the nsw or qld cup. this salary cap management reminds me of an nrl fantasy football thing that i used to do, and was pretty good at

one thing i would never allow is to pay a part of a player's wage whilst he is playing for a different club

i am also not a fan of backending contracts, but it is manageable if the difference between years isn't too much

I reckon we will be paying part of McQueen's contract.

i just hate the idea of that. it's just bad salary cap management/planning

The nrl should abolish clubs paying part of salaries and introduce player transfer fee.
Although some may argue that it benefits richer clubs, it also provides funds for clubs that are struggling financially.

So which ones out of the twins,Reynolds,Keary and Aj are you going to expect to drop down their wages to $240k and expect them to stay at the club?Our cap would be more than $6.8 with 3pas and long service allowance for Sutton.
