Cheers mate, who knows he could turn out a really good player.

Honestly if the Broncos can just fit Inglis and lose no one we should just not bother with a cap. Before they didn't have the money for Teo and needed Hodges to retire to keep Kahu.

Nek Minnit money for Inglis.....

If the Broncos sign Inglis they will have the following elite fullbacks in their squad:

1. Inglis;
2. Boyd;
3. Milford;
4. Kahu

All of those are far better than our fullback and we went on the open market because we didn't have one.

One of the purposes of the salary cap was meant to be to stop clubs stockpiling talent. Another was to spread talent evenly.

Massive fail in both departments - whether they sign Inglis or not.

Sorry stagger I was being sarcastic.

If Broncos manage to snare Inglis that'll do me. How clubs manage to make a mockery of the cap is beyond belief.

Well we need to get smarter about how our cap is managed. Hopefully Schuey is adding value in that space. Having good third party networks would be the best outcome.

The Broncs have TPA's coming out of their ring hole and they did lose Hodges who was on a fair wicket too

But surely Hodges would have been receiving those TPAs as well.

I'm not against them replacing Hodges with Roberts or Inglis but TPAs are a joke and Broncos are the originals at getting around the salary cap rules

.@PenrithPanthers look to have blown @NRL_Dragons & @TheParraEels out of the water in the race for Peta Hiku. Expecting a decision today.

Exactly right. If we can't sort out big TPA's then we don't deserve a star studded team.

There is one major downside to strict application of the salary cap, and that is limiting the amount of money coming into the game, and therefore the game's profile.

The EPL (for example) doesn't suffer from being heavily biased in favour of a handful of very wealthy clubs. Even people who have never been there can't get enough of Chelsea/Liverpool/Arsenal/the two Manchesters.

If Gould wants his man he will get him.I reckon he is stirring the pot.

Lafai for all his promise was very ordinary this year.

Both him and Hiku are solid first graders. Feels like they are being over valued on here. Both are better then Morgan but im happy if morgan starts-I think he can do a job and I am confident we will finish the same spot with or without hiku.

Canterbury's other centre didn't set the world on fire this year, either. Both Lafai and Morris are better than this year's form indicates. Canterbury were very disjointed in the halves this year, which probably has a lot to do with it.
And - Hiku and Lafai are both worlds ahead of Morgan.

Question - Having Lafai or Hiku over Morgan means we will win how many extra games this season?

If you applied that reasoning to every signing, you wouldn't buy many new players or let many old ones go. But at a guess, I'd say three or four.

So you have one but just let some clubs flout it? How is that a solution?

And just because epl has lots of money doesn't prove that the application of a salary cap limits revenue in the game.

If it did - we would probably be happy to f**k it off as we are presently financial and could probably get a better roster with an open market system than we can under a salary cap model.

You're using the term 'solution' as though the NRL sees it as a problem.

And just because epl has lots of money doesn't prove that the application of a salary cap limits revenue in the game.

As a rich club with loads of fans but little corporate appeal I think we (the Eels) would be much better off under a different competition/financial model to what currently exists. How about owning our broadcast rights for starters?

He may be a better centre in the general sense but Taka is the better option on the left hand side. Lafai rarely passes the ball and why would we want that when we have Radradra?

While I deride the general fan obsession with centres who exist solely to pass to their winger, I do believe in some cases a team is better off with a playmaking centre who can draw defenders and create space. Our left side is obviously one such case.
