Just thinking out loud Coote at FB, Aitken and Dugan in the centres, Widdop and Marshall in the halves playing more direct, wow that is a formidable combination of players right there if this can be achieved for next year.......

I think like you said, Coote is a very smart footballer with the ability to back it up and he just compliments the players around him so well. A real team player even though he has obvious individual ability I think the Cowboys will sorely miss him if he's let go, but I hope Ponga goes well for you guys, he must be a very good player from what I've heard about him.

Mate, I've been singing Coote's praises in here for a while now and often get howled down by one eyed Dragons fans for even suggesting he adds more to a team than Dugan.

I also asked would Cowboys fans swap Coote for Dugan and I imagine that would be a resounding no.

He'll never have the stats or the press that Dugan gets, he just helps his team win which is what's its all about yeh? As you have said, he's helped JT's game go to another level and I bet you'll miss him if he leaves.

Still sceptical if he'll have success playing FB in our system as our current half and hooker are miles behind yours.

Love to have Coote..but as a fullback only. Does a lot of good things in defence that Duges cant do and in attack more speed and passing ability without the tackle breaks ability. Fullback for me in a heartbeat. 5/8th not convinced at NRL level as Mann is not a fullback at NRL level after watching him for 1 1/2 seasons.
Dragons and Mary have made some blunders in player and position selections and it is costing us dearly. I believe our stock can attack better than what they are..forwards need to be encouraged to play more 2nd phase with inside and outside runners.

I don't think Mr Green would be to happy with him tonight....Cowboys had hit the front with not many mins to go and were right on top not far from the Donkeys try line, when not very long into the tackle count he was so busy trying to have a shove at the marker (because he resented something that happened when he was tackled) when he himself was playing the ball he lost it. And from the ensuing scrum The Donkeys scored a long range try...I rate you Lachlan but imo you cost your team the points tonight....I bet you don't do that again ....

Barely recognised the panda change, gives you a soft edge..

But yes finding a post for Wallace is a drama and a half right now.. dont wish for an injury but if Quinlan or Hutch got called up to 1sts.. I think he would seize a #1 or a #6 cutters jersey.

If we sign him i hope it is to play in the 1 as i'm sick of players "learning" to play in positions other than the one they have played their career in.
Coote is a bloody good fullback why try to turn him into something else.It's not as if the coaching will help.

Agreed, I'd like to see Widdop and Benji Swap positions. Benji when given some space has proven many times in his career to be a match winner and Gareth I think fits the half back role well because like all good half backs he keeps a cool head in attack and knows how to direct the defence around the park.

After watching coote last night and the last 2 years would love him at the dragons. Would add a lot to our attack and is very smart footballer. Also great in defense and can kick as well. Good at fullback and halfs

Ian Millward (Recruitment) was interviewed on the Footy show about Coote. Said that Rein/Marshall/Thompson/Creagh were the main things they are working on at the moment. Said club is wanting to retain Benji and Beni wants to stay but just a matter of dollars available. Didn't deny the club was chasing Coote.

I'd love to have Coote at the dragons but I wouldn't have him anywhere else but at fullback! I think his positional play and kick difusal ability would have a great asset at the back. Plus he has a great passing game in order to get that last pass away. I'd have josh Dugan back in the centres because I do believe he has the ability to be a great Center just needs time to prove himself because we all know that we've seen him perform well there previously! We just need that halves partner for Widdop, maybe keary is the answer or maybe Mann is the answer but I don't think benji is anymore. There just isn't that cohesion between the two and I don't think ever will be.

I'd have him at five eight but whatever. As long as we massively up-skill our backline and add some speed. Top drawer that bloke.
