If it was Steve Mavin, it was in 1987. The game was the Minor Semi-Final against Canberra.
Also, he did play first grade again.

1987 - 26 games for Souths
1988 - 19 games for Souths
1989 - 24 games for Souths
1990 - 19 games for Souths
1991 - 12 games for Canterbury
1992 - 1 game for Souths

1990 : Joe Vitanza dropping the ball, Penrith fought there way back from a 12-0 deficit to be down 12-10 and were getting on top of Canberra, Then Vitanza dropped the ball and Canberra scored a brilliant try which is rarely spoken of.

I've always thought Penrith should have waived the conversion from the Alexander try and really threw the ball around from the restart for the half minute or so that was left (no-one really knew how long was left because the clock was stopped in those times). The Raiders were vulnerable after the Woods try because they believed the game was over and the Panthers had several players capable of making a break.

Did you used to support St George too?

 Was thinking the same thing!

Where's the banner "C'MON SAINTS"

**EDIT**

Back on topic, St George supporters should easily have this thread owned. There are way too many Grand Final horror stories (especially in the 90's).

Back to my corner in the fetal position sucking my thumb and rocking back and forth re-living the '99 Grand final.

1999 - trying to hold back the tears while Glenn Lazarus did a handstand. I wished the f**kers wrists would have snapped under all that weight

but I'm over it now - the therapy was expensive though :?

I dare say for any older Parramatta fans it would be the 1976 Grand Final and Neville Glover dropping the ball with the line wide open.

Where is Manly doing the block play, only in your mind?

When Toops scored, look at the line Lyon runs to block Roosters from contesting. In the second half when Pearce put up that bomb that landed 1m from the line (caught by Taufua), look at how Foran zigzags to block SKDsy from contesting. Added to that Wolfman held Jenko back and refs didn't award a penalty
