Melbourne Game

Anyone else very nervous about this one? Obviously no Smith or Cronk but this team is coached brilliantly. Munster was running rings around the Roosters and their wingers are try scoring machines right now. Really big and fast. Something we don't have on the edges. The forwards battle should be pretty even but Blake Green has filled in nicely whenever needed, making our halves pairs looking 3rd rate in comparison. We really need to win this but I am not confident at all. Need Aitken to do something special. When will it be our turn to produce some real talent?

Nervous NO but might need a calculator to tally up the score for the Storm.

Their forwards will blow us off the park and Munster will monster us.

Aitken may as well wrap himself in bandages and live in a leper colony for all the clean ball he is ever going to get.

Only chance we have is if the ref and the bunker give us 20 penalties to undo all the wrongs from their effort today and even then we would struggle.

Just hope that the refs give us a fair go.
Game goes for 80 min.
Passing forward to yourself is not allowed.
Sending up trys when you have no idea if he grounds the ball etc...

I think we'll win. Absolute gift games against Cows and Storm during Origin period (although I was surprised Cows came so close to winning it).

I would not even be confident of beating the knights. Until we have a complete overhall we will not have a consistant team. That means a new coach and a pair of halves that will direct and run the ball. I have been a fan of widdops over the years but his lack of direction and form is starting to reduce my opinion in him. As for marshall we need to let him go NOW. By the way why would mcgregor play debelin at prop , the coaching staff have to go NOW.

The Storm may score less points than normal without Cronk and Smith, but they are just so well drilled and disciplined. It pains me to say it, but I just don't see enough in our attack to worry the Storm's defence at all.

I am more nervous about the Newcastle game. I reckon the Knights and Browny would have circled this fixture and give themselves a better than even chance of winning it. They'll be up for it and we'll have our work cut out.

If the Knights do win, surely that has to spell the end of the Mary experiment.

Why is it a gift? Yes cronk and smith, but their pack remains. And it's very very good. I think they should start favorites.

Total gift. People claiming we've had a rough draw need to stop

We have the toughest draw on any team in the comp, it's not a claim, it's a fact.

Five day turnaround after a tough game against the doggies monster pack.......Storm by 16.

Our draw is only hard because we are weak. We look at opposition teams and think 'we've got a heap of tough games in a row against top teams'. There was a time when weak teams would see our names on the draw and think the same team.

'Tough draw' is a bullshit excuse for being a weak team, designed to shove the acceptance of mediocrity down the throat of the fans.

I saw the Storm Roosters game at the SFS. They are very very good. The distance between us and them is massive. They will do us like dinner. Every set the forwards were making 60/70 meters versus the Roosters 40 meters. The centres were very good the wingers big tall and strong , Munster the fullback was literally a monster. I don't think we have any hope.

It's more the scheduling that's the issue, not our opposition on any given day - who you play is irrelevant. We've had more than our fair share of Thursday and Monday nights, 3 consecutive Qld games, 16 days off with a bye then a 5 day turnaround as well as other short turnarounds and our season started with a lot more away games than home games all of which makes building any consistency very hard ( as opposed to playing most of your games on a Friday night for example ). That wouldn't happen to Brisbane, Cowboys, Storm. If a private sector business faced that sort of unfair, unbalanced competition they'd scream blue murder but our officials say nothing.
I'm not making excuses, just stating the facts. Of course having an ordinary team makes it just that bit harder.

We should win this game easily with their Origin stars out but I think its more likely we'll get pumped instead.
The Storm are the masters of grinding out a win.

How easily? They are only missing 2 players out of the 17 who absolutely flogged the Roosters last week

They will still have their rock solid defense and they are number 1 in the league for a reason

Really.

You try telling manly supporters that. They've already had 4 five day turnarounds against our 1 at this stage. Games during origin period scheduled against Cowboys and Storm is as good as it gets during that time.

Our draw may not be the best but it's far from the worst.

but if all involved in the club keep complaining about the draw, it helps deflect the attention away from what the real issues are.... :?

Agreed, that's a different conversation however.

The club has been on the slide since Penn took full control
