Usually, when any of our players talk to Souths media about "Structure".
They get dropped the game after.

I am sick of it.

Adam is injured again with a shoulder and he played well. I am shattered for him and all our members.

GI was inspirational tonight. Where has that been for SOUTHS?????? He's been doing fug all for us.

If GI doesn't play superbly with that passion on Friday, I'd like him stripped of the captaincy and given to Sutto.

Where is that passion from GI for us every weekend?...
And yes I was praying neither of them got injured
I hope Adam is ok
Our season is done really
Can you see us winning 7 from 10 ?. Nuh

Cody to 5/8.

Keary to half.

AJ to fullback.

Gray to wing.

Murphy to centre.

That's what I think.

Without Reyno we are in big trouble.

BR I'm fuming here mate. I can't stop scratching my head.

GI is our captain and has to lead from the front. He looks disinterested for us. Gould just said no good sugar coating it on the TV.

I'll tell you what, let's not sugar coat things here BR mate, I'd give Sutto the captaincy if GI misfires with laziness this Friday.

I'm shattered re Adam. He was good too and set up the try to Frizell taking the line on did Adam.

I see us winning 2 from 10 tbh with you.

Murphy will probably debut now.

I'm not confident with Keary at half. When Reyno is out Keary is a lost puppet tbh with you that's how I see it.

Let's say our best players Walker, Sutton, Sam, Reynolds and GI can inspire their team mates all game by running hard. Tackling hard, but if those "Inspired" team mates can't make an impact. It's not Walker, Sutton, Sam, Reynolds and GI's fault. It just shows the quality of players those players have around them and those players who can't make an impact must be replaced.

But another arguement could be made that Sutton, reynolds, G.I, and the burgess boys take up so much of the cap that we can't afford to put quality around them

I don't think it is a case of concentration and coordination more than inspiration that is needed at our club. In recent times, threads have cropped up about how to make our club a top four team again and players that we need to sign. In all honesty, we can sign the best players in the world but if we continue not to perform the basics then we will continue to be where we are at present.

I think that the best thing the playing group and coach can do at present is to go back to basics. First and foremost, the mentality should be something along the lines of "lets be difficult to beat; even if we lose, lets make Penrith shed blood, sweat and tears in order to crack us." The best way of doing this is to be defensively sound and eradicate silly errors and penalties in our game. In terms of our structure and style, I'd be keeping things simply with a lot of one-out stuff from the ruck, dummy half running with a kick that is aimed at securing good field position first and foremost on the fourth and fifth tackles. Basically, you want to do everything possible to be safe and error free so that we don't give our opponents a sniff. If you want a blue print on how we should play, then have a look at the Dragons performances from the start of last season. Despite lacking talent, the Dragons under McGregor adopted a simple game plan that was aimed at being error free and defensively sound and look how well they did. While this may not please everyone, it is where we are at at the moment and it will give us our best chance of picking up a win.

SouthsPride--please remind me not to watch the plan you are espousing for our team!! It sounds very stuffy--a breathe of fresh air in attack with a degree of risk-taking would be good!!

I'm not denying that the plan I'm advocating for tomorrow night's game is boring and dour. However, we need the two points desperately and we cannot afford to cop another hiding. Moreover, we have tried to play expansively and off the cuff over the last few weeks and it has gotten us nowhere. Its unfortunate but we are at stage where confidence is low, players are out of form and we are making silly mistakes frequently. Therefore the priority at present is the two points; playing aesthetically pleasing football comes last.

Going to be very very hard as there won't be a good kicking game without Reyno which puts us behind in the territorial side of things.

Rabbitohs v Panthers
Friday 24 June
Pepper Stadium
Kick-off, 7:50pm

Round 16 of the Telstra Premiership will see the South Sydney Rabbitohs head to Sydney’s west to do battle with the Penrith Panthers at Pepper Stadium on Friday night.
The trip to Penrith will provide the Red and Greens with the chance to bounce back from their 30-12 loss at the hands of the Parramatta Eels in Round 15, when they square off against a hungry Panthers outfit looking to find their way back into the top eight.
Despite featuring at five-eighth in recent weeks, captain Greg Inglis will shift to the centres in a new look backline that also sees Aaron Gray move to the centres and Tautalatasi Tasi make his debut on the wing.
After making his Club debut in Round 9, Patrice Siolo returns to the side from injury (knee), alongside Jack Gosiewski, who was left out of the side against the Eels.
On the other side of the spectrum, a refreshed Panthers side will look to come out firing after their Round 15 bye. Having secured an impressive 31-24 come from behind victory against the Sea Eagles in Round 14, the men from the foot of the mountains will come into the clash with their tails up, looking to claim the two premiership points.
The Rabbitohs will need to make improvements to their game if they are to claim victory against the Panthers and turn their season around, a sentiment held by front-rower, Thomas Burgess.
“We need to get the little things right this week and the results will take care of themselves,” said Burgess.
“It’s not the most complex game in the world. If you hold onto the ball and don’t give away penalties, you give yourself a good chance of winning.
“When you have a few losses, obviously you’ve got to keep spirits up and that’s what we’ve been doing.”

SPOTLIGHT: GREG INGLIS

web_gispotlight16.jpg

MAKING HIS RETURN FROM THE STATE OF ORIGIN ARENA, THE SPOTLIGHT WILL BE ON GREG INGLIS AS HE TAKES THE FIELD FOR HIS SECOND GAME OF FOOTBALL IN THREE DAYS.

As the captain of the side, Inglis will be fired up to lead his Rabbitohs team mates at the foot of the mountain after helping to secure the Queenslanders' tenth State of Origin series victory in the past 11 seasons.
'GI' is not stranger to the centre position, having excelled in the position since making his NRL debut back in 2005. He is regarded as the best centre in the world by many pundits, due to his blockbusting performances for Club, State and Country for over a decade.
Inglis will play a crucial role in determining the result of the match and as usual shape up as a match breaker for the Red and Greens.

NYC

Rabbitohs v Panthers
Friday 24 June
Pepper Stadium
Kick-off, 5:35pm
The South Sydney Rabbitohs NYC (Under 20s) side will take on the table-topping Penrith Panthers in the curtain-raiser for the NRL fixture on Friday night.
Despite suffering a defeat at the hands of the fourth-placed Parramatta Eels in Round 15, the Red and Greens showed patches of promise in their 22-16 loss, highlighting the ability of the young side.
The Panthers enjoyed a bye in Round 15 after defeating the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles 60-6 in Round 14, extending their winning streak to 11 matches.
Look to winger, Mawene Hiroti, to provide the Rabbitohs with attacking flair out wide. The young Rabbitoh has enjoyed a stellar season to date scoring tries and kicking goals in both the SG Ball and Holden Cup.

These refs/bunker are shit.

Cody was taken out.

Should have been a penalty try.

We can't take a trick from the officials.

Big calls keep going against us.

I'm proud of the effort tonight too.
