Also of interest is that Kalyn Ponga was not picked. He may have declared for Australia (Qld)?
Probably because of ALL of his entire NRL career, theres only been 3-5 seconds of brilliance that I can remember from him and that was in the finals not so long ago.

Very disappointing that Australia have apparently poached Junior Paulo despite him not being able to play Origin (according to the sources I've seen he moved to Australia at 13yo).

Ponga probably should've been picked in the final squad as a backup / Scotland-starter - and definitely the train-on group - given our dearth of fullbacks and his crazy potential (and good first couple of games). Will be disappointed if we lose him too.

Would have gone with a squad something like..

David Fusitua
Jordan Rapana
Brad Takairangi
Shaun Kenny-Dowall
Manu Vatuvei
Thomas Leuluai
Shaun Johnson
Jesse Bromwich
Issac Luke
Jared Waerea-Hargreaves
Simon Mannering
Kevin Proctor
Jason Taumalolo

Te Maire Martin
Martin Taupau
Greg Eastwood
Tohu Harris

Tuimoala Lolohea
Lewis Brown
DWZ / Beale / Feki / Kahu
Kalyn Ponga
Manu Mau
Joseph Tapine
Sam Moa (Paulo!)

Rapana can defintely cover at the back. He'll also bring it back well, more ball and tackles well. The only thing I haven't seen him do is ball play otherwise chuck him in there and let's find out. The mans on fire so give him plenty of possession in the sets.

The other benefit is that it gets Fusitua on the wing to do his long jump tries. When you think about the positions Fusitua has played in this year, wing is where he's been mistake free.

Alex Glenn is out for the Four Nations, had surgery.
Yeah he wasn't the same player this year compared to 2015. He was making noticeable errors in some of the Bronx games mid season. Maybe he picked up that injury he's had surgery on, early into the season and just treated and carried it as a niggle throughout his quiet games this year. Hope the surgery is a success and Kearney should check first before he names people to kiwis training geez.

Has Jordan McLean said he'll play for the Kiwis if selected?

Born in Sydney (Maori descent) and already played for NSW (city or country, can't recall which)...

Seems I was mistaken, Jordan McClean pledged to Aus so I'll swap him for Fisher-Harris

In the absence of RTS i would probably have Nightingale at FB for an experienced head at the back.
Dont really care regarding the other spots. Everyone mentioned above would be fine. Good depth

Someone on here said hes Kiwi, which he kind of is but I assumed they meant he was playing for the kiwis as well. Actually they probably meant that as well.

That really sux to hear but from the sounds of it, he was always Aussie.

Is Nightingale injured? Or are most of our armchair selectors geniused?

Was Nightingale's form up to it this year? Didn't see much St-merge game this year. I like Jason but we have form wingers that deserve a call up. Rapana, Feki, DZK & Fus to name a few. I hope we don't choose Manu he's had his worst season in his career. The beast can certainly comeback if he has a stellar season in 2017
