I just read an interestind article. Aparently, we really wanted to keep Joe Burgess and made him a good offer to stay. However, he had already signed for Wigan and was loyal to them.

I like Goodwin but I just think that if Joe Burgess had been able to stay at Souths that Goodwin wouldn't have made the 17.

Jeez thats a little disappointing. I really think he could be something in the NRL and would have rounded off our backline nicely.

Problem was his consistency.

He was either rocks or diamonds imo.

As I know Southsport is right. Joe would have got first crack but he's rocks or diamonds. Remember after the Manly game where Joe made 6 errors???? After that match he was dropped the next week. He had 2 good weeks and then an ordinary one. Same happened at the Roosters, he was in and out of their side due to his rocks or diamonds.

Joe imo wouldn't have been consistent in first grade, so yes he would have got first crack but then Madge would have picked Goodwin for his spot as he knows he will get that consistency and its a safer selection which as we know Madge likes.

I have admitted I did think he was ordinary on the wing in the past but I believe he's improved greatly and now goes well there.
