In his normal stance it was. His waist is at stump height. He played it four inches over bail height. It is a no ball.

The law governing No-ball (Law 42.9) says "A fast high full pitched ball shall be defined as a ball that passes, or would have passed, on the full above waist height of a Batsman standing upright at the crease.

Not a no ball.

Shit finish to the over

Not a terrible recovery. Nice cameo from Santner in the end. Still 40 runs short, but some good bowling and early wickets and we are in with a chance

Starc throws the toys out of the cot after that ridiculous no ball and leaks 15 off the last over.

The way we batted in game 1 NZ probably have more than enough. Need to be a lot better

A stump is 71.1cm tall. Boult is 180cm tall. That's a lot of crouching to have your waist at stump height in your stance. A ball is about 8cm in width Therefore any ball that is 80cm high will be a no ball to boult?

Moot point as per Bazal's post anyway.

We need some stability at the top, some one has to bat around 30 overs, the rest should fall into place

We should not be relying on all rounders to get us home and Stoinis could never bat like that again, that was a once in a life time day out for him

The inability of the NZ middle order to rotate strike is a serious concern.

Munro, Neesham, Santner couldn't rotate food in the microwave let alone strike against a good bowling unit.

Did they just seriously try to compare Lockie Ferguson to Shane Bond in any way....? Lol.

Agreed. Brownlie and Taylor were excellent at looking for singles. Munro, Neesham in particular gave themselves no chance. Poor back end to the innings has Australia well in front.

Although in fairness to Santner, his innings was pretty good given what he walked into. His middle order left him in a hole.

Moot point agreed. I was sure the old rule was the same as judging a bouncer - judged off batting stance. If it was (which it isn't) Boult bats like a mudcrab doing an A to G squat.

Finch creeping up on a milestone here. 20 will be his highest score v NZ

Boult is doing his part here. Southee needs to capitalise on the pressure he's building.

Oh look, Shaun Marsh run out...how unlikely!

And now Handscomb chops on. Congrats NZ

Handscombe played back once too often

Lazy shot which can happen after you've been keeping for 50 overs if you're not used to it
