So a one-week "injury" and our starting six has to come back via the reserves while literally every other starter gets rushed directly back in. Come on.

Exactly. No need to lie about stuff.

Its easy to explain Carty at 6 even if its a dumb decision. At the end of the day we were winning last year with him there. This year we arent winning at all.

So a lie based upon form is ok but a lie based on injury isn't. And as said, it is still a rumour. For all we know, TMM may have have an injury that cleared up in time for reserves (two days later). So MX, when are you going to tell us how you know that Griffin is lying?

So we need to make a statement every time we drop someone now do we? He missed a week and then played reserves, when asked about it during the week Griffin said he is going ok, will most likely come back from injury next week and denied the rumour that he was off the tigers and on the outer at Penrith. What is the big deal exactly? That he came back a week early(its not like that ever happens in sport right)? Or that he didn't want to tell the media he was dropping TMM and have that fuel the rumours and be on the back page of the tele the next day giving us another distraction? I would much rather the club handle it the way that they have.

And if Griffin had come out and said 'the truth', the same guys on here would be whinging about him telling the truth. It's whinging for the sake of whinging, which is extremely rare in the LU Penrith Panthers forum...

Its not a lie at all. Its ignoring the question asked and giving an answer that is still true. Griffin preferred Carty at 6 to TMM at the end of last season. We were winning games also.

Using injury as an excuse for not picking him. Then having him play 2 days later... thats the same shit Matt Cooper did with City vs Country. I suppose you believe he was injured all the times he dropped out?

Im not saying that proves he is gone. Just that he has added credibility to that rumor... and if it turns out we release him then when the next rumor pops up he wont have much credibility in shooting it down. If he stays then great. Next rumor he shoots down we can trust he is genuine.

Edit
I also havent said that he has definitely lied. I said IF he lied to us and then people started arguing thats its fine for him to lie etc.

I just want to be able to trust our coach when he shoots down rumors. God knows they happen enough.

Lol this is so ridiculous. So what exactly is the fallout from TMM playing reserve grade this week? How has it hurt us? Does no one trust us now? This is everyday shit for rugby league ffs it literally happens en masse around this time of year(CvC).

No, this is what you said.

"If he's gone it wasnt an excuse. It was a flat out lie. It's one thing to try and be misleading or avoid a question. Its another to straight up lie. It removes any credibility from him and in future how could you take his word when he denies a rumour if he has previously lied about them?"

And I wouldn't know anything about Matt Coopers situation, That situation has nothing to do with this situation at all nor does it justify it. The fact that it sounds more probable or not doesn't make it true. Your statement shows that you were specifically concerned about whether it was true or not.

So, when are you going to tell us how you knew the rumour was true? Or are you going to dodge the question again?

Tom.

And where would he play?

Martin appears to be on the outer swap him to the warriors and play him at Fullback with Moylan at six, He could play anywhere in the back line really.
Seems to be a reluctance under Griffin to play DWZ at fullback he preferred Will Smith there last year when Moylan was out injured and I don't know what is going on with Edwards contract situation. if he stays great I prefer him over the others.
Just a thought. Only trouble with lolohea may be attitude.

I'd rather keep Edwards if we can. lolohea is a brilliant runner but his attitude sucks.

So we need to make a statement every time we drop someone now do we? .

Come on, let's not be disingenuous, shall we? It would have been better to have just dropped him and then when a reporter asked about it, just said "We are trying something different." The important part is in bold - why on earth would I expect the club to make a statement every time someone was dropped? That's just dumb.

He was not asked if TMM had been dropped so why go out of his way to tell the media that? And why is that better? Telling the media we have dropped him would fuel speculation about TMM and his future when Griffin is obviously trying to do the opposite of that by making a point of denying the rumours that been in the media last week. There is also a chance it hurts TMMs confidence getting blamed for the teams struggles when no one else is being dropped(players performing much worse) as well as putting pressure on Bryce to come in and fix our issues.

For all we know he actually was carrying a niggle and wasn't ready to go on Thursday but was by sunday, given the new rules about deviating from the team sheets and when clubs have to cut players off them that is very plausible.

Yeah read the line before the one you bolded. If hes gone he lied about it in that press conference.

We cant control the results of our team (sadly). But our morals and integrity are 100% our own. Thats why I was proud of us for dropping players who broke the rules. Other teams wouldnt and I felt that was one area we were better than any other club.

IF we say Martin is not on the outer and then we sack him. That would be lying and hugely disappointing from the club. It would be a step back on the standards we set.

Im not saying that he has lied about him being on the outer. I never have said that. I was just discussing the post you made and YOU were the one that said him playing reserve grade added weight to the rumours:

TMM (supposedly injured) played in reserves. Adds weight to the rumours

http://www.seaeagles.com.au/news/2017/04/30/isp_rd_9_penrith_28_.af_news.html

Tom.

If Martin did what was claimed he needs to be sacked. I wont be upset that we sacked guy with such bad morals. I will only be bothered that the coach lied about it when there were a million ways to answer the question that didnt lie, and I would be disappointed that such a good young player pissed away his opportunity with us.

Wouldn't be the first... and you can never hold it against the club for sacking a guy who would do anything that ruins the team like that.

Again that's an IF. Like everyone else I still hope it's a load of shit.

Would people rather TMM not play a game for 3 weeks? 3 days is a long time in sport. throw in no Games of NSW Cup or NRL this week. He wouldn't of played a game for 3 weeks

The crazy thing is I don't think anyone actually has a problem with him playing NSW cup. There seems to be an issue for some that we may have used an injury as cover for dropping him instead of coming out publically and saying we are dropping him when asked by the media.
