I'm not questioning either. I'm the one clarifying to those questioning why we have rules. There is nothing to question. The jury's out, and that's why dual citizens face 'discrimination' where they can't run for senate, the poor underclass bastards. I hope they're qualified enough to find a job elsewhere in the economy. It's tough out there.

If they want to avoid it they can follow the f**king rules. Former PMs Abbott and Gillard managed it despite being born overseas. Dastyari and Wong cared enough to know what was required of them.

And if you think I give a shit about the loyalties of any given Australian resident, you should know (because you have Facebook) that I'm on to my second foreign spouse. She is not even a dual citizen, and she's open about where her loyalties lie.

It's not like you have only 5 minutes to decide whether you want to run for parliament or not, and it's not as if these people are short of legal or procedural advice.

I'm definitely casting aspersions. I'm just not questioning. As I said, if you belong to two places you don't belong to one, do you? That's fine. You can still be a productive and well rewarded citizen of whichever country you choose to live in.

You can definitely not know. Some shitty countries suffering brain drain automatically confer citizenship on the grandchildren of citizens and never tell them. Plenty of countries do it for the children of citizens, though in most cases an application needs to be made.
