Penrith Panthers can confirm Matt Moylan has been released from the remainder of his contract with the club to pursue another opportunity in the NRL.

The 26-year-old played 89 games and scored 26 tries for the Panthers after making his NRL debut in 2013.

"I'm sure I speak for everyone here at Panthers in wishing Matt all the best for this next phase of his life," Panthers Executive General Manager Phil Gould AM said.

"We will follow his football career with great interest."

He'll be under pressure from day 1 over there.

Cronulla going into 2018 with a halves pairing of Moylan/Townsend.

I get all this and have come to terms.
But our coach and Gould need to go.
Constantly covering shit up.

What a disgusting photo that is. Never thought I'd have to see that.

That photo should be banned on the Panthers forum.

Phillips is a good solid signing, he’s better than Oldfield.

Not sure why we needed another backrower? Who knows.

I’d prefer we picked up a Half...
Im guessing we see the halves as:

NRL:
6. Maloney
7. Cleary

NSW Cup:
6. Luai
7. Blore

May and Carty can cover 6
Wallace can cover 7.

I dont like the idea of moving Wallace, Carty or May. But obviously Griffin likes temporary solutions.

Yeah, I guess so, which is fine, I just feel like 7 is our weakest position, Depth wise.

Matty looks chuffed. Load up for the Dally M
Yeo. Might take a few weeks to settle in. But hes going to be playing behind a dominant forward pack under a coach that actually plays to his teams strengths. Flanagan doesnt offer up Maloney if he isnt confident in Moylans ability to do what he wants.

If he can stay fit he will have a huge 2018.

Totally agree. Such a shame we couldn't hang onto Darren Nicholls, he was the perfect back up but alas he received two offers which far exceeded what we could offer him. Good luck to Nicholls it would be great to see him finally rewarded with a debut in the NRL.

Moylan looks very excited to finally be playing football with his childhood friend Andrew Fifita.
What a dream come true.

Not from Fullback he won’t.

He’s no chance of winning a Dally M or playing Rep footy from 1.

Definitely no rep footy. Not at fullback.

But his ball playing skills will have him top 3 most weeks at fullback or half. Look at how good Barba was for them after being terrible under Griffin.

Moylans nowhere near as much work as he was. But I expect he will be their 6 sooner or later.

With Maloney coming I don’t think we need another half. Maloney can play halfback and we have plenty of players who can fill in at five-eighth when needed

On a side note, I’m hearing Maloney will not be announced today as a third party has withdrawn from his deal
