The NRL needs to be specific about expansion in 2022. The AFL is light years ahead of rugby league in building their game nationally. At least we have New Zealand and PNG outside Australia to call upon.

Perth and Brisbane 2 and Wellington are all urgent expansion necessities.

Whether they want a 19 team competition (with one team having a bye every week), or a 20 team competition, is a legitimate question. If we go to 20 teams then it has to be either PNG Hunters or Adelaide for the 20th spot..

20 teams is not sustainable, the largest professional club competition struggles with 18, the only way you get 3 new clubs is by sacrificing one existing club.

What a load of crap! You must be taking the piss! Their were 22 top flight teams in rugby league in 1997? From this some of the worst administrative decisions were witnessed to dilute the code and its relevance in Australian society! That's what happened.

So are some club officials whom are allowing reckless regard of well known and established club looks and branding. But you for whatever reason can't figure that out.

You want North Sydney back in the comp - that wil take the game backwards and oversaturate the Sydney market even further which will certainly assist in imploding the code because of people like you with blinkers on that can't see the bigger picture. That's ok - let's add the Bears back in and send all Sydney teams back to their traditional suburban grounds and we'll see how the game goes backwards over the next 20 years.

It's not overcrowded! Three regions with nine NRL teams is not by any means over crowded given the tyrrany of distance outside of these big population bases.
