What exactly would you classify us as then? NRL and Super League games rate higher in the RL community than international test matches. Stones and glass houses mate.

You're not wrong, but it's worth considering that the past 20 years where RL has pushed Origin as the peak of the sport has done serious damage to the premiership and expansion, huge numbers of fans who only care about Origin that won't turn out for club games and a direct message to expansion territories that you don't matter if you're not in QLD and NSW.

I take your point but, as an example, i have a pompous Victorian brother in law who is prone to say things like "my family have been Essedon supporters since 1892" ( he got very offended when I laughed) He watches SOO as he claims that he will watch RL and other sports at their peak.
The ratings show that this level of RL breaks through to non fans when the club competition does'nt. How you translate that to NRL is the challenge

Like we dont know already! They still call us “affiliate”states ffs, despite the fact that the constitutional changes means that the states outside of nsw and Q’land are actually much more strongly owned by the arlc, and it is in fact only nsw and Q’land now that are affiliate states as they are not owned and governed by the nrl!

Consider that in over one hundred years the sport has been unable to expand substantially at a professional level beyond its traditional small geographies in 2 states of Australia, one e city in nz, M62 corridor in uk and a small enclave in the south of France.

I'm sure you acknowledge their are a few very relevant reasons why this code has not grown as it should have!? Would you concede that!? I'm certain it's a potent combination of poor administration and extensive worldwide repressive actions by its ugly brother code in union.

Dissagree. Union are still doing their repressive tactics toward rugby league. I can give you some telltale examples if you like? It's very deliberate and based from having union bias in high government positions in various countries around the world. The repression is still there PR!

Nonsense, maybe the only place it still exists in any obvious form here is in private schools, but that has absolutely nothingg to do with the nrl’s lack of ability to grow the nrl competition at the top flight in Australia and nz. Were into our third massive tv deal with more money flowing into the game than ever, more media coverage than ever, more interest in the game in non nrl team cities than ever yet the nrl still has NO plan to expand. That isn’t unions doing, it is an abject failure of RL administrators and seems ingrained in our DNA not to be ambitious.

The only RL leader I’ve seen with any vision was Smith, and he was a Union man which is probably no coincidence when you see how they have taken an inferior product and grown it around the world.

Granted. However I spoke to the editor of the main paper in London about the lack of press coverage in his paper in a rugby league world cup staged in England in the 1990s. His answer was "That's a northern game". True but I'm pretty sure the northern press cover union and soccer in the North?!. Especially if it was a world cup! That's were the subtle differences of bias come into it.
