Lol - you did not!!!
Yes I did ! On the phone after a bit of a wait. But I certainly did. He was actually an Aussie in the sports editorial section.
Lol - you did not!!!
Granted. However I spoke to the editor of the main paper in London about the lack of press coverage in his paper in a rugby league world cup staged in England in the 1990s. His answer was "That's a northern game". True but I'm pretty sure the northern press cover union and soccer in the North?!. Especially if it was a world cup! That's were the subtle differences of bias come into it.
Wonderfully put! The marketing people are on the side of union too! For example i was talking to the editor of the Degrassi Grapevine and she told me that Pontius Pilate killed Jesus because he played league! No wonder the bears are imploding!
Which main paper?
It was a fair while ago. The Mirror? BTW I mentioned a very telltale article they didon't have in this paper about the South African Rugby union putting a player ban on any player that decided to play rugby league . The South African rugby league was inundated by thousands and thousands of youNguyen South African wacting to.play rugby league after the 82-6 world cup loss the Rhinos suffered at the hands of the Kangaroos in Newcastle England. I mentioned that was "refreshing however a bit more world cup rugby league information wouldn't go astray. "
The mirror is a national paper.

Mate that's not a league vs union exclusive concept. Prior to the 90's just about every amateur sport banned players who had competed in professional sports. Same thing happened in the Olympics until quite recently, amateur sports banning professionals was a standard practice, same as how pro boxers are banned from amateur championships, etc. Still no actual conspiracy. Certainly doesn't have any connections to the current lack of direction shown by the ARLC and the NRL.
I mean somehow going after the French government for banning League in the 40s/50s doesn't quite translate to why Packer and Murdoch's pissing contest in the 90s seems to have shrunken the code to a borderline irreparable position.

Btw. These players were seeking to play amateur rugby league! Not Professional as the set up in South Africa would not be in place. So try another excuse will you?.
Yeah you were a tough union troll to pick...Must be a sad life being intimidated by intelligence, some of us actually finished school. *Shrug*
Loving the union conspiracy still going strong though, the ARU have been borderline bankrupt for a decade plus, not sure where they got all this extra funding to impact the likes of Gallop and Grant.
If you're talking about the 1995 RLWC, which you should be because that's when the Rhinos played the Kangaroos, then Union doesn't go professional for another 18 months.
And I don't know the details of this story about amateur league players in South Africa, but I do know that the definition of amateur used during that time considered things as minor as a club paying your fuel as professional. Doesn't matter anyway, how do these tinfoil tales relate to the failures of the ARLC and NRL to grow the sport in Australia?
Let's not twist and deflect. PR was referring to rugby league going nowhere and he mentioned it's few stronghold areas. So I have informed of the major reason why rugby league hasn't expanded as it should. I get the feeling you are a rugby union apologist /deflector so lets leave it that. As I don't subscribe to trolls on a rugby league website. Go back to your union site and sprout that codes obvious shortcomings in a benevolent way like I'm sure you will.
Or perhaps more accurately, I just make the effort to actually research the necessary information so that opinions can actually be informed rather than obsessing over pointless conspiracy theories. Talk about deflection, you can't just try and cover your shortcomings by accusing anyone who challenges your version of things as having an ulterior motive. It's pathetic.
Lol. A RUGBY union troll trying to advise me on a rugby league website!? Your credibility is zilch. You are a pretender abd you advocate for a sport that uses its power through deception and deceit. Shame on you. Get off the site. Hopefully a moderator will sort you out!
>Tfw when you spend an entire thread making up stories about conversations with the editor at the Mirror and then accuse someone calling you out as being a "troll".
Time for the nursing home.
You are still on the site? Go back to your comfort zone you non tackling ignoramus.
