With 10 mins to go last night, McGregor was looking for a hole to hide in. Lucky for him some clutch plays came off, which of course had norhing to do with his 'coaching'. Just instinct.
However, the most laughable thing, which actually left me gobsmacked, was his comment firstly in the coaches preview and then again in the presser when he said:
"I couldn't talk the boys out of playing"
WTF you are the coach you muppet you dictate who plays not your players.
This is the very reason our fringe players, who are very good players mind you, cant get a look in, as Muppet head just asks his existing players 'you right mate'......'sure just need a couple of needles, all good coach'......'ok we're set'........xerox existing team sheet.
The overwelming fact is that last night, Host, Lawrie and LL, had good games, however, they wouldnt have been even considered if this was a normal round.
Oh, and for those saying its the NRL's fault of scheduling etc, please, Muppet coaches 29 players not 17. It's why we have been (and to a lesser extent still are) suffering season fade outs. Giving a youngster 5 or 10 mins at the end of a game is not coaching, its lip service only.
Fortunately for McGregor the egg thrown last night slid off rather than sticking.

Do you really think he would let players dictate if he should play them. He rested Friz and LAM did he not? Are you saying they were the ones who didn’t want to play while the others did? Highly doubtful.

Think he’s just trying to point out that the team is committed and didn’t want to let anyone down. It s called supporting his players.

But if you want to find yet another reason to smash Mary when we’re 4 points clear in 1st place, knock yourself out.

Yeah, I took from his presser that he was highlighting the commitment the boys had for each other not that he’s being told what to do by the players.

Then again, I wouldn’t like to be coach telling Sir James he is being rested :joy:.

We have a good High Performance Unit and I trust Mary will heed their advice and I don’t mind the approach of resting rep players by adjusting their training load.

It was good to see Mary had a Plan B (insert sarcasm here).

We are going to get found out massively when it gets to the pointy end of the season if he doesn't come up with something.

I can's see how you would not take the comment Mary said as commitment from the rep players to back up.

I can't wait till this whole freakin' Origin/rep period is over. These games are playing on their minds big time before the games and then backing up afterwards would be even harder.

To come away 4 points clear at the top of the table during this period is a pretty phenomenal effort not by Mary but all involved especially the players.

Once this period is over boys should get back to their standards set early in the season I hope as they will then be focused on the Finals and nothing else.

Would be good if we move Origin till after the finals or before NRL starts.

Well said , its just the new additions to the team that are making a difference . In saying that I don't care how we win and as long as we win , and yea if we continue they way we are we can't ask for more we are leading the Comp whether I think Mary is a good coach or not I personally don't like him as a coach , but win us the premiership I'll be happy ......

It’s funny we win the game after a disrupted week for half the squad, spirited opponent, 4 points clear at the top and people still post in this thread?

I would like to formally apologise, I was disillusioned with 10 to go and couldn't contain myself.
I was hacked.
I was on Ambien.
I left the page open and my wife posted.
I'd had a stroke and typed random gibberish.
I was thinking of another game.

Just take any of the above that seems appropriate.

All is forgiven. I poured myself a double Jack with 15 minutes to go.

Still want to sack Paul McGregor?
I dont think so.

With the team leading the comp, l think the word sack, is a tad harsh.
I was thinking more along the lines of, escorted to the door, frog-marched, driven, one way ticket, etc.....

However, even l would refrain from any action simply because we are leading the comp.
