You totally missed my point.

So you’re concerned a more seasoned player would take up their playing time in reserves?

That’s easily fixed

The club should pick the most likely out of Egan & Katoa and cut the other loose.

The squad needs balance, not a heap of young guys.

Besides it wouldn’t be too unusual to have 3 hookers in a 30 man squad.

Okay I see that I have to explain this to you. At the moment we do not have a season hooker, and we do not have a third, so what? These two will improve with game time. It is that simple.

I think for yours to work get an experienced hooker. Keep one of Katoa/Egan and play off the bench for development.

I got your point the first time then.

Your point isn’t a concern as under my scenario the 3rd hooker would be a back up.

Katoa & Egan would be given every chance at the start of the season, but you can’t jist keep selecting them if they aren’t improving.

First grade isn’t for L plates.

Really I didn't realize that, please note my sarcasm. Wayde is a better player than Katoa, he is the future hooker.

Maybe he is, but what I’ve seen so far is a deer in the headlights, he hasn’t adjusted to FG at all. He plays a totally different game to the style he uses in the lower grades.

Heaps of young guys don’t kick on, you need a back up plan. Even if it’s only a stop gap.

If I had a dollar for every young Penrith “next superstar”...

By no means convinced of this. Nowhere have I read that any other club is interested in signing him.

I meant if Tigers demand players as compensation.

I don't mind the idea of experience but Egan has been fine in first grade. When he finally got the starting gig he did his knee early on.

He looks like he isn’t ready to me.

When a really young guy comes in for such an important position they need to hit fbs ground running, otherwise they’re better off in reserves.

Katoa can play backrow too if needed. So it's not like it is 3 hookers only.

My issue with stuff like this is. What if neither are FGers? Then we waste 2 more years. Much better to have an older guy finish the year in NSW Cup because both have developed faster

That’s why maybe we should talk to Cameron King, he’s been released by Parra

Every player at the club gets overhyped and most overpaid given our cap situation

I'm not sure our cap is as bad as you've said unless it's due to Merrin, Tamou and Maloney.

We'll have to agree to disagree. You're not being unreasonable or anything. I've become a big fan which is well known on here due to how good I think he is.

I thought Katoa was tremendous up until the point of Hook being punted. He then lost his way for 3 or so games (seemed to overplay his hand) as our whole team struggled, got rightly dropped, & bounced back. He wasn’t great v Sharks but neither were 70% of the team & the two games before that he was more than solid.

He’s not going to go backwards with a full off season training at Hooker & getting more familiar with the structures etc.

Egan just hasn’t had the same opportunity & probably hasn’t shown as much just yet, but he’s highly rated by the club for a reason. You can’t judge him on such a small sample size.

Unless we’re signing an elite Hooker, I can’t see the point in signing another at the level of King or McIllwrick or Liddle etc. Wallace is the experience & will be there to bring them along.
