I agree Jimmy.
But 1 week vs 1 yr is a wide bow.

And ACB need to get on from foot and drive strong penalties world wide

As well, get caught tampering the ball..... and you are off for the rest of the match. Play one short.

Staying on the field after being caught is ridiculous.

Well, that’s another change that should be considered.

Personally, I felt the length of the ban was appropriate, however, I would’ve allowed the trio to play club and state cricket.

Make them work for their positions from scratch again - just like any promising player has to do.

No, I don't condone cheating, but I don't condone the ACB treating our player so much more hashly than other countries that have had similar things happen. In other cases the ICC handed down their penalty (which the longest was 1 test match) and that was the end of it. But our media and social media crucified our players and wanted them to be made an example of. Even players from other countries said that Smith, Warner and Bancroft's suspension were way over the top and excessive. The late Tony Greig said that ball tampering has been an open secret in cricket for over 50 years or so. Anyway I discussed this enough when it happened. I think it was extremely stupid of them to have done it.

I think most clubs are cheating the salary cap in one way or another. If you don't cheat the salary cap, then you probably won't win a comp. Would you condone us rorting the salary cap or would you prefer we did everything above board and by the book and never winning another comp again. Do we want to be honest losers or cheating winners? We lost the Ashes due to England cheating last decade. Even Freddy Flintoff admitted that England cheated and Martin Trescothic admitted to ball tampering in his autobiography. Flintoff also said that he didn't believe that it was only Smith, Bancroft and Warner who knew about the ball tampering. He said that the rest of the team, especially the bowlers would have known what was going on with the ball, and I agree. Maybe they should have suspended every single Australian player for at least 9 months. In other cases only the player who was actually caught tampering with the ball was penalised, but our cricket board suspends our captain and vice captain for one year and they didn't even tamper with the ball. The current South African captain has been caught ball tampering twice, but that didn't seen to be an issue to the Australian pubic or the Australian media. Our media is a disgrace in more ways than one, but out media is obviously controlled by .....

Other countries get a one match test ban and that is the end of it, but our cricket board chose to suspend our 2 best players for a year, to appease the media and the fans who were baying for blood.
Spot on mate!!

Nice sentiment.

Wont happen.

The ICC should take control to make sure penalties are consistent across the board.

Shouldn't be left to individual countries
As good as they are I think they should have got longer. Did we win the ashes fairly???? They seemed to have the ball reversing pretty early, when England couldn’t do anything with it. Makes me very suspicous.

Bring Steve Waugh into the team in some capacity to restore some pride in the baggy green. In case you didn’t know I had a man crush for Tugga ( f**king champion)

Not the point.

The ICC should be the ones dishing out penalties for onfield indiscretions, not the player's country. Otherwise, you get the ridiculous situation where 2 players from different teams convicted of the same offence receive completely different penalties.

You can't have one rule for one team and another rule for another team. Afterall, this is international cricket, not the NRL.

I am boycotting watching Australia play cricket until Smith and Warner are reinstated.
I went to Caringbah yesterday to watch Steve Smith play. Great to see him smiling and enjoying his cricket again.
Davey also hit a century at coogee I saw.
I think both these guys will have the full support of the nation now as they are serving their time. They'll come back stronger than ever.
If they had just received a slap on the wrist the public wouldn't have been so supportive of these guys.
The ban is the best thing that could have happened to them for the longevity of their careers and reputations.

Robson to play off the bench, Lomax to start in the centres, Aitken as a back rower, Periara to be a starting winger, Lawrie to be on the bench every week.

In my opinion not a winning formula.

Fullback
In my opinion Dufty is still a work in progress and will lose his position if he cannot improve his defensive skills, positional skills and his skills in taking the high ball.

Wingers
I'd say we need two top line wingers and so, if Macdonald is leaving we need to buy two wingers who can compete for SOO selection. Pereira and the new ISP winger from Canberra should be our backup wingers playing in ISP.

Centres
Aitken and Lafai need to really lift their game as they were the centre of the poor performance of our backline this season. Both need to be dropped to ISP and work hard to solve their problems and push hard for NRL selection. Mary's promise to keep them in first grade all season is a dumb idea.

Halves
On their day, Widdop and Hunt are two of the best halves in the competition providing their forwards are dominating the opposition. The head coach need to teach them how to win or perform well when their forwards are not dominating the opposition.

Backrow
I'm in no doubt that with Sims, Frizell and De Belin we have the number one backrow in the competition. With Leilua on the bench, I'm of the opinion we only need to groom our current players, Host and Nesbit for depth.

Props
With Ah Mau moving on and being replaced by K Sims, we are still short one top prop in our prop rotation. Vaughan, K Sims, Graham would make the 17 with Latimore and Lawrie as backups from ISP. So we still need one top grade prop for the 17.

Hooker
If we are to be serious about improving our 17, we should consider including Robson on the bench next season. A hooker rotation of McInnes and Robson would avoid fatigue and bring change to our playing style. In addition Robson can replace an injured backrower.
