Their forward pack looked terrible coming into this year and got dominated last year. They turned up presumably due to the wingers getting so many metres per game and Cronk's game management.

I had them and the Storm as one of the three favorites before the start of the season. (We'll forget that the Cowboys were the third :)). They had a good squad, and proved it in the end.

They arent overrating the squad. They just rate it higher then you do. Your opinion is not a fact.

If Mansour and Whare return in peak form, Edwards returns from injury well and everyone builds from 2018 our squad is f**king awesome.

We have a lot of 2018 big game rep players through the team (DWZ, JFH, RCG, Cleary and Maloney) and we then have the likes of Blake, Kikau and Yeo who all had better seasons then those guys did. With arguably none of them even playing at their best for most the year.

I dont rate our hooking options all that high. And im not a fan of the return we have gotten on the investment we got from the likes of Tamou and Mez. But we made week 2 of finals with a lot of disruptions through they year and barely playing to our potential at all.

We were one win behind the minor premiers. In a year where we had no one play well all season. We have flaws and question marks in our roster. But that's true for every team.

We can easily make up alot of ground with the same squad.

Who in front of us will go backwards though. I think we will improve but so will others

Look at their spine. Their wingers too. There was enough to cover the average pack on paper

Storm 100% are going back.

Lost Cronk this year.
Now Slater for next year.
Smith is not as great as he once was.

merkins might still be around the top 4. But without the big 3 they cant be as consistently great.

This is true but the rest won't go back. Cows injury free are in front of us roster wise. Knights keep Pearce and Ponga on the field then they are a chance to make the 8. So someone needs to drop out

Broncos.

Bennett has already been told he's gone for 2020 before the 2019 season has kicked off. Some players have said they're leaving if he does. So hopefully that disruption is enough to ruin their season.

Gould's word doesn't mean much of course, but there's nothing around to suggest otherwise in this case.

I didn't think Roosters had the forwards, but they had unheralded ones who stepped up and filled the void. Tell me who will be our rampaging middle forward from out of nowhere and I'll gladly listen.

We have enough props to Atleast hold our own if Leota keeps improving.

Assuming Blake/Whare are the centres.. Who is backup?

Same with Backrow Kik/Yeo/JFH pick themselves. But the next one up?

That for me is the weakness. Prop and Hooker has options Atleast

It would be a great year with no Storm or Broncs in the 8. I don't see Bennett in 19 so it will be interesting to see how they end up

Tbh I think the signings will start to happen when the coach situation becomes clearer. I think the clubs with coaching ambiguity (us, Tigers, Broncos, Manly) will want to clear it up in asap at which point signings will go back on the table.

I dont think the situation is ideal, but it is what it is.

This comment is settling:

"I think many on here have short memories because as supporters we endured a lot of pain during that 16 year period and here we find ourselves in a period of relative success in terms of making the semi finals year in year out but apparently that is not good enough for some."

Agreed.

Shouldn’t accept mediocrity.

Difference between good organisations & great ones is what’s an acceptable outcome. The fans and the club should demand higher standards, if enough people accept this is success then that’ll filter all the way through the club.

Simple fact is when you’ve gone out of the finals in week two for three years in a row there’s a problem. It needs addressing.

Maybe that’s the coach, but I suspect it’s more.

If we don’t have enough cap room to go into the market to buy some experience then our cap & roster has been managed poorly.

What lower grade players can step up for 2019?
From what I have seen not too many.

Aside from putting Luai at FB or somewhere to play him in the 17. I don't see much unpredictable player types down there.

The best bet is hope the Ball guys come on very quickly

My thoughts exactly. Once again we will have strong lower grades but proven NRL depth looks thinner

It does seem to be theme amongst Panther fans. No reason to say we can't get to the same point as this year but to go further
Maloney doesn't play like a mental midget and we go a week better this year

True but I see no reason Blake and Kikau don't keep progressing as they have been. That's pretty big for us
