Natural talent should also stop you getting 12, 14 or 18 behind in the first half.It does make sense that chasing points down comes from natural talent.

Great defence comes from structure, discipline and trust. Being a well drilled side willing to bust their arse and put in those extra efforts.Natural talent should also stop you getting 12, 14 or 18 behind in the first half.
We will all wait with baited breath in hope that the poor starts will be a thing of the past while the strong finishes will continue. I'm all for optimism.
Reckon tripsters closest to the money and it was discussed many times during the season. Our pack was just physically not up to explosive starts to the game, but was much fitter over longer distances. Kikau epitomises this. His defense is ordinary and gets shown up in the first half. In the second half he looks like he's playing in a different age group.
On one hand the coach the coach cant necessarily just "fix" that on a game to game basis. On the other hand he built the squad, oversaw the players physical conditioning etc. Its always on him at some level. More on Hook than Ciro too.
At the end of the day it doesn't really matter as much as some think. Points are worth the same in both halves.

It does make sense that chasing points down comes from natural talent. Other teams with better coaches often couldn't do it like us.
For those coming in late, I looked him up and apparently he has coached our side before.
We finished 12th, 10th, 4th and 11th.
We actually fired him, not even kidding. Ended up with a 44.9% winning record.
Looked up premierships, none. He did get to grand final so credit where it’s due, not with us but did make the preliminary final which was that top four finish.
Then back to 11th the next year.
I can see why we’re going all out for him.
Look at Canberra... I am certain the coaching staff doesn't train them to fade after 60mins.
Yet they do it. They are a big team maybe their fitness is poor.
I'm guessing their fitness. Seems martie has me ignored lol.
2013 missed the finals by one game, with a roster that included Moylan, the Limmo, Sauce, Mose Masoe and little else. The 8-6 loss in Newcastle it was that cost us. But we crumbled against good opposition at the business end, sort of like the Tigers this year. Not his fault a team filled with Clint Newton's and Luke Walsh's or a team with the worst injury toll in NRL history can't make the finals.
Mose was awesome when in form. A lot of those guys were very green though. Moylan couldn't play at the end of the season because of Coote coming back from injury and the rules around the salary cap forced Moylan out.2013 missed the finals by one game, with a roster that included Moylan, the Limmo, Sauce, Mose Masoe and little else.
