Klemmer has always struck me as a passionate Bulldogs man as well. Very surprised he would leave them.

Des was a Manly man from player to coach but money talks.

Luke Lewis was and still is a Penrith boy but if your club tells ya to look elsewhere what are ya gonna do?

Josh Reynolds certainly didn't wanna leave Belmore.

Feelings and sentiment don't pay the bills.

Ok it’s for personal reasons, let him go but his contract must be the same value as the one he’s in now. Sound fair?

I agree with the sentiment of this but unfortunately for the Dogs their track history of lowballing their best young players to long-term deals may be coming back to bite them again. I don't have much sympathy for them when they seem keen to pull the wool over the eyes of their young players so they can throw overs at ridiculous guys from other clubs like Woods. Klemmer is solid gold and it sounds like he was convinced to take one for the team there to his own detriment.

This is SBW all over again for them.

Surely the 1.15m per year claim is a joke.

He's a very good prop but hardly a superstar.

Only Lolo and Sam Burgess are worth that among forwards and Klemmer isn't in their class.

I'm happy for you to think that and happy for us to throw ~$1mn a year his way. Anything north of that I would assume comes from TPA's and to be honest I think some of $1mn would come from TPA's but I am comfy making him the best paid prop in the game to get him here.

Would be mind blowing for a top liner to be offered a large deal and actually be advised to take it.

As we have all seen, a heap ofbplauets are advised to forgo 200K plus a season which does not make much sense considering they don't have long in the game to earn big money.

What? He resigned for 4 years when he was already an Origin player. You’re seriously blaming the Dogs for this? Cmon mate it’s bullshit, if it was happening to the Knights you’d be filthy. League is a farce with these continued contract breaks. Then this ‘personal reasons’ excuse, just man up and say what it is. Another club is offering you a shitload of money.

If Ponga walks into Knights headquarters today and wants to leave cause the Broncos are offering him $1.2m a year I suppose you’ll be saying that’s Newcastle’s fault and they should let him?

Klemmer represented himself the last time he signed a contract, I highly doubt he got lowballed, but if he did, he only has himself to blame.

I find it amusing these personal issues arise and he has to get out of Sydney at the same time as this supposed massive offer from Newcastle comes up.

Everyone laughed at the Dogs when Klemmer was offered 350k a year before he’d even played first grade.

And if I recall, SBW was one of the highest paid forwards in the game when he walked out.

Exactly. He was a young Origin player and signed for well below his value. Apparently convinced to to help keep the rest of the squad together. That went to throwing $1mn a year at Aaron Woods.

How happy would you be if you were Klemmer in that situation.

On what planet do you think a 21 year old David Klemmer is a master negotiator?

You’re talking like they signed him when he was some kid who no one knew. He was an Origin player, other clubs wanted him, he chose to resign with his current club. If he stayed for less how is that the clubs fault?

He’s under contract until 2020, how are the Knights even allowed to talk to him?

The NRL is a joke, until they do something about played managers shit like this will continue to happen.
