At the time of the "first presser" Gus had sacked Hook because ( Quote Phil Gould at his Ch 9 footy show among buddies BS session) """"we had to terminate Anthony Griffin as coach immediately as Ivan was about to speak to the Tigers board and it wouldnt have been fair to Anthony Griffin"""( yeah right...whatever)
Ivan declared (with shaking hands at his one and only prepared statement on the matter) that he thought the meeting was about Nathan's future and was entirely surprised to find that it was about the coaching position ( that wasn't vacant at that stage)..BUT...BUT..Guss claimed that first meeting was just about buying Ivan's house!...what??..how about picking one story and sticking to it!..remember any of this?....talk about Faulty fkn' Ivory Towers!!....all that was needed to finish it off was a red ball on the nose and some flapper shoes.
Forget the shuffling of reality. .you got your coach who you wouldn't have wanted and who wouldn't have wanted you if it wasnt for Nathan and Tigers got a better one.....everyone's happy.

Edit / add.....just to mention...i think Ivan IS a very good coach and will do well for you up untill Gus cant help being too much Gus and / or the father / "son running the team" dressing room cracks start to appear. ...Nathan's friends will be solid but the imports ( over 5 years) mightnt be as warm about it.....good luck anyway....to quote Vinnie Jones....it'll be emotional

The house in leonay wasn't with Gus, it was with a Panthers exec. Gus was there in negotiating a new deal with Nathan, and Ivan was there also.
Minor details make the story my man.

We can offer a premiership window though.

We should be top 4 and a genuine premiership threat. Knights would celebrate like they won a grand final if they made the 8.

We can but I think he would find it hard to turn down $4.6 mil over 4 years. We wouldn't and shouldn't come anywhere near that.
I don't know the man and whether he would knock that back for a premiership chance.
I feel if Merrin goes any replacement will be toiler to mid first grader. With the left over spent on upgrades to players like Luai.

Have you seen the re-signing video of Buhrer the Knights released? I think celebrate is an understatement!!

I reckon re-signing BMM would be a perfect signing. Someone with a bit of impact & unpredictablity up the middle of the park or on the edge if we play Yeo up the middle.

To replace Tim Browne it would be good. A 200 Gamer, Premiership winner and test player...Not so

Just because Merrin has been offered a big contract in the UK doesn’t mean he’s leaving. He may not want to leave, Gus May not release him. It’s all just rumours and speculation at this point.

his performance on the field has been unacceptable last year. There is no way we don't let him go should he want to go
