Team for third test:

Latham
C De Grand Levers (Raval only averaging 15 in tests this year. Throw CDG in and back him to get 10 or 15, gives us the bowling option)
Williamson
Taylor
Nicholls
Watling
Blundell
Southee
Somerville
Patel
Boult

Haha - in a terribly selected squad you need to improvise. Raval seems to be trying his hardest to get out in ridiculous ways ATM.

Fair point.

What about Watling for one game? He's got the mentality of an opener and often faces the second new ball...

Yeah probably a wiser approach. Still leaves us with that ridiculous tail given they didn't carry any batting allrounder cover.

Pretty decent effort by Yasir.

The 2nd best match figures by a Pakistani.

3rd best match figures by a leg spinner and the best match figures by any bowler since 2001

Watling started as an opener, could go ok - but at the end of the day the only spare part is a keeper, which is an atrocious selection

Would love to see the back of CDG and Sodhi, but especially on CDG I just don't see how that's possible - Southee's probably the swap and will offer as much with the bat, which is f**k all - if they bring in Blundell they haven't got much bowling, unless Kane bowls - he's due with the bat, and probably our main hope of saving the series

Matt Horne and Brooke Walker woulda carved these plodders up
Giving that cricket almanac a hammering big fella? TBH I think we need more Phil Horne than Matt Horne... young Ben Horne is a batting keeper, perhaps he should be there too.

Tom Blundell is no Matty Wade, that's for sure
