Thanks for posting that.

Good to see the Blore brothers, Burns and Too on the list. Hopefully we get to see some of them in first grade after June 30 with the new rule change for development players.

Surpised Crichton didn't make it on the list as well.

The good thing is any of them can play FG if needed at times.

Ok now hear me out. Penrith Panthers win a premiership by doing a Bradbury.

Roosters: No team has won the premiership back to back and Ferguson was a massive part of the Roosters side. Teams often lack the hunger after they've won a premiership the previous year. Additionally JWH has been a lazy plodder for years before suddenly turning back into a beast so there's good chance he could regress again and he's the most important forward in the team.

Storm: Slaters' gone. Croft has potential but can be a bit rocks and diamonds. Smith had to carry the team at various times and with Slater gone and another rookie in the spine that'll only get harder. And he isn't even re-signed yet. Chambers' form might be on downward spiral too.

Rabbits: A lot of uncertainty has definitely interrupted their pre season up until now which isn't good. They've seemingly got no proven first grade replacement for Crichton. Cook has only played good for one year and will seemingly be less effective with a blueprint of how markers handled him in the finals working well. The Burges twins only come good again this year but have been terrible for years before that. Robert Jennings is still unsigned.

Sharks: Lost Holmes, Lewis retired, Graham will be out for a lot of the season and it takes two years to completely recover from an acl. One injury in the seconder row will result in them relying on the guy who was last their 3rd back up choice.Gallen will be a year older and might not still be up to NRL standard at his age. Salary cap investigation could result in Flannagan getting suspended for a year. Fifita seemingly doesn't get along with the coach and that could get worse. Could get fined and have to move to Perth. Moylan could get moved back to fullback where he probably doesn't have the pace to play now that he's bulked up a bit.

Dragons: Mcdonald regularly made around 200 metres for them he left, Nightingale retired and Mann was released. They still need a winger and if JDB is arrested he will be hard to find a replacement as good. Herman Sele, and Leeson Amou also mean they're forward depth (which wasn't great) is worse. JDB's court case could also cause a loss of moral.

Brisbane: A lot of instability with their coaching which interrupted part of the pre season. While they probably have the most natural talent in their top 30 Staggs and Hass quickly suffered injuries and could be injury prone players. MIlf and Nikorima are still inconsistent, Boyd drags down the team. And PNJ has hammy issues and the hamstrings tend to be finicky once injured. Gillet will probably never be the player he once was and Macca looks like easily the slowest dummy half in the NRL when he runs the ball.

Warriors: Lost SJ, signed no replacement half who's a proven first grader. Have Hiku. Are the Warriors.

I like your logic. And a paragraph to further support your panthers to win premiership is

Panthers: Lost Anthony Griffin. Lost Anthony Griffin. Lost Anthony Griffin. & lost Anthony Griffin

Good write up. Roosters will still be dangerous with Cronk there and they are so good defensively.

Looking forward to part two of this post. Reasons why the other 8 teams cant win.

Eels: Hayne was one their best players when they got the spoon this year and he's gonski. Corey Norman is a better player than Mosses and he's seemingly gone. Nathan Brown is one of the guys who has to work very hard in the pre season to not be fat and he's injured for like 8 weeks so prepare for the second coming of George Rose. Paulo's a lazy plodder and won't add much.

Raiders: Rapana's gone for a big part of the year. No repl Ricky Stuart's the coach and will be for the next 10 years.

Manly: Des trains his players to be extremely fit. There's a chance lazy boy Suli will show up late to training again multiple times again and get fired. Walker's seemingly gone considering there were multiple witnesses. They just let go Brian Kelly so RIP backline. Even if they buy a decent centre edge defense is position that requires a lot of trust so good luck cementing that late into the preseason when you're training with Brad Parker (possibly the worst player in NRL last year). On top of that they have Kane Elgey defending one edge which will already be heavily weakened. Their second rower is coming off an acl injury which requires two years to get back to 100%. Got rid of Shawn Lane one of their best forwards last year. Their home ground is so poor it is seemingly prone to acl/mcl injuries.

Titans: While I'd like to believe Bryce will get back to his best there were also articles about how hard Sam Kasino was training in the pre season and look how that turned out. Ash Taylor still comes off as childish and doesn't have the attitude to be a consistent halfback. Last year he looked pretty unfit.

I'll do more later.

OK - I'll have a go at where I think teams will be in 2019

Lock ins for the top 8

Roosters
Panthers
Dragons
Storm (only if Smith plays but either way they will not be a dominant this year)
Rabbits

Teams that Should make the 8

Knights
Broncos
Sharks

Teams pushing for top 8

Warriors
Tigers
Raiders
Manly
Cowboys

The Rest

Titans
Dogs
Eels

Biggest improvers - Knights, Manly (still have good forwards and 2 marquee backs)

Biggest losers - Warriors (no SJ), Broncos

I think we are a real shot at it. Roosters look great on paper again but we will be much better than last year.

Tigers just got hit hard with a penalty on their cap. Might have pay someone out. I'd be happy with Elijah Taylor coming back.
8. JFH
9.Egan
10.RCG.
11. Kikau
12.Yeo
13. ET
14. Tamou
15. Leota
16. Herman Sele/Hetherington/Grant/Liam Martin (depending on form)
17. Tyrell Funimao/Tyrone May/Sione Katoa (depending on form)
That's a pretty solid line up.

Yes might be a cheap pickup or 2. Still have a few months to finalise contracts

Don't we already have 30 contracted players though? Or are the Panthers able to get a injury replacement for the injured McKendry? I thought they could only do that if they were able to medically retire him.

Also, as this was JFH's first season as a starting lock, I'd prefer to leave him to keep developing in that position. I think he still has room for improvement as a lock, before moving him again to another position.

28 with Merrin gone. Some players are ball playing locks like J.Turbo and Victor Radley. But the way JFH plays lock is virtually identical to a prop, he just rans hard and tackles hard. The middle suits him, it's the second row he shouldn't be moved back too imo.

Yeo will be our lock fulltime within 2 years id say.
