It’s not that long ago some were suggesting Wade Egan could be the next Cameron Smith.

Now we are apparently prioritising recruiting a big name hooker?

Wade Egan has been underwhelming thus far but I think given we will have limited funds to spend even if James Maloney leaves surely we have bigger issues in our squad and we could get by in 2020 without spending big on a dummy half.

Egan will be good with the new enthusiasm in the team.

Egan will be good with the new enthusiasm in the team.

I guess the majority of his games to date have been limited minutes off the bench but underwhelming is probably the word that best describes his performances thus far.

I am happy to stick with him, we only recently resigned him for another two years I gather, as opposed to spending big money on a more established hooker.

Spend our available money on other priorities and just run with Wade and Mitch Kenny in 2020. Maybe not ideal but we have bigger issues we need to address.

Been giving lots of chances and hasn’t done much with them, he will get more chances before we sign anyone but he has to start playing well. I have more faith in Kenny taking it than Egan.

He was good in the Souths game and has buckets of talent.

I recognise your his number 1 supporter but he has to start showing something on a regular basis. 19 NRL games and I haven’t seen anything yet to suggest he is destined for a long career in the NRL. I hope I am wrong I hope he is something special but at some stage, in the near future, he actually has to show us something.

When the forwards perform and he doesn't then I'll accept he is bad but while the entire team Is bad I won't. I gave Cleary and Maloney the same benefit of the doubt so it's not just my fandom of him.

I think Egans shown plenty this year. Still a long way from the finished product but I could see him coming really good.

I truly hope Wade Egan is the real deal we need a quality hooker and it would be better is we already have one and not go to into the market place to buy one.

What a shame Tricky Trindall’s kid Maurice Trindall went off the rails because he had to the potential to be anything, electric out of dummy half.

But how much does this all come back to the coach? Look at Bellamy, taking on players that didn't quite work with their previous clubs.

People didn't talk about this being the Panther's premiership window for nothing - we had the team.We just didn't have the coach.

Rothfield reporting in the telecrap that Penrith are prepared to release Waqa Blake, RCG, and Hetherington to get some new blood in the team, Blake possibly released prior to June 30 to Parramatta, can’t copy the link or whole article from my iPad sorry people
