It’s more than excitement in my experience, it’s bordering on an obsession.

Obsession lol, I think it’s got far more to do with supporting the club. You want Waqa to be kept based on his potential. His form is poor this season so it’s only potential that people can see in him. He’s had one good year in four, if he wants to leave I’m not going to worry about it. If we are playing someone just on potential then give someone a go who hasn’t failed to deliver on it for 3 out of 4 seasons. If he wants to stay then great hopefully he can get back last seasons form.

While Nadens not a better player than Waqa he certainly has been a bigger plus for us then Waqa has all year, and he wasn’t even on an nrl contract. It’s hard to care if Waqa stays or goes given those circumstances.

I don’t want Blake kept on his potential, I’ve repeatedly said I want him kept because he had pretty close to a break out year last year. Pretty much the whole team was poor this year, attacking structures changed. I’m not going to hold that against Blake when he doesn’t control the attack.

And I also said that my initial statement wasn’t just about Blake, it was a general comment about the obsession with the next big thing.

As an aside, you have a thing about putting words in people’s mouths. Don’t say something like “you want” unless you can back that up.

Yes what you have described with his ‘almost break out’ is potential. You think he has the potential to be much better than he is so you want to keep him.

If we loose Blake and replace him with naden (who is looking decent ) we will be further from the title in my opinion unless we some how jag someone good enough to help bring a new dimensions to our club which at this point is looking very unlikely

14 tries isn’t potential, it’s proven performance.

Now yes, it’s only one year, but no other player has scored that many tries for us since Dave Simmons I think.

1 try in ten games is his current proven performance so yes it’s potential, You are literally talking about him almost breaking out mate, we are talking about his potential.

And I explained my thinking there. You know how many tries our entire back 5 has scored this year? 6 tries. That tells me the problem was bigger than Blake.

It’s too simplistic to look at the last 10 games in isolation without considering other factors.

I’m backing keeping him on what he did last year, a proven performance. None of our other backs have shown that ability even in the same conditions.

Blake and Kikau are my 2 fav players. Kikau is improving and turning into the beast he can be.

Blake on the other hand has gone backwards from last year and almost 100 games in and 25 at some stage need to move on if he keeps at this level.

Blake doesn't suit the style we play compared to Peachey and Naden and atm looks like the cap can be better spent elsewhere.

Naden can chase kicks better. Plays left and right side. Centre. Wing and FB. Was even bench backrower in a few games earlier in the year.

Peachey if playing centre comes in looking for the ball and create something and like Naden can play several positions.

When on his game Blake shits all over both but is pretty much only a left centre. Needs tries put on for him

Look at all the allowances you make for Waqa. When it comes to Nathan you give the cherry picked numbers and that’s it LOL. Waqa has gone backwards this year, that’s not debatable IMO.

Totally different situations, I’m not advocating we get rid of Nathan Cleary. I’m merely arguing he’s overpaid.

Also explained quite clearly that the numbers weren’t cherry picked. They were picked because they were obvious comparison points.

The whole backline has been poor this year, outside of two games by Naden. They have 6 tries between them. That tells me the problem isn’t specific players, but the attacking structure.

In terms of the style we play, that clearly needs changing. We can’t compete for a title with this style, so if we change the style that brings Blake back into it.

Ivan has coached long enough to show he isn't capable of coaching good attack. So need to get the roster to suit

Regarding Waqa I think people are already forgetting that he was by far our most potent outside back, and our 2nd most potent attacking weapon (besides Kikau) in what was a woefully performing TEAM. I would guess if he'd been in the team during this recent purple patch that his statistics would have improved. I think he is definitely worth keeping around.
