Me I'm not doom and gloom about it. I think it was always on the cards especially after Api was announced.
I still don’t see any upside to letting Egan go.
it’s not as if we are gonna bring in five marquee signings!!!!!
I understand the silly season is just beginning I just don’t see our brains trust sealing the deal on anyone who will be a significant upgrade or address our deficiencies.
API is a decent player and if he survives the season injury free well perhaps he will be a decent signing. Incurs a season ending injury early on well we are back to square1.
Sorry to say this rebuild we are enduring has no plan to it which will be all to evident once our top 30 roster is finalised.

Both hookers had a season and a half to cement a place neither did so the club rightly went elsewhere... Neither did and here we are
Yea I don’t really get why some fans are upset we let Egan go, he’d be 3rd in the pecking order for hookers at our club. Personally I never got the hype, maybe he was a gun in the juniors but you’d think Penrith fans of all fans would eventually realise it means very little when it comes to becoming a first grader, but that’s a story for another day.
I don’t see why we should force him to stay in NSW Cup either if he has an opportunity elsewhere, I hope he has a good career but we can’t keep em all, hell because we let him go easily maybe it keeps the door open for a return one day, seemed to work well with Api.
80 minute hooker.
Egan has shown sweet FA in his time at the Panthers. We already know that Kenny isn't half as talented and even a questionable 9. Yet he has had far more of an impact than Egan. His contract extension made it obvious he is the back up for 2020.
Also, back up at hooker shouldnt be an issue if Egan sets the standard. Surely you can't tell me Penrith can't find a 9 that can do Egan's job in our pool of juniors.
Good luck to him.

Hands looked decent enough should we need a 3rd hooker
When is the last time Api played 80 minutes?
100%. API is decent, useful will he resolve all our woes highly unlikely in my opinion. Egan was well worth preserving with in my opinion all be it the coaching staff were always going to be a noose around his neck. The current ad hoc approach to retention & recruitment is a massive concern going forward.
Why wouldn't Kenny who can play backrow be the bench hooker? Egan was 3rd hooker
I reckon he’s picked up a ban, very unlike him.
Don't know. I saw him on Twitter posting his disappointment over Egan.[/Q

Just to throw a curve ball to that it could be Burton off the bench.
I heard Maloney about a month ago on the radio and in his opinion he said Luai would get first shot at 6 with Burton taking over Luai's role this year off the bench.
Whether that is what Maloney would do and it was just his opinion, or Ivan revealed his plans to him beforehand I couldn't say.
I spoke to someone from the club over the weekend. He has always been honest to me.
One player, a forward has verbally agreed to come here while a promising younger player that can push for the top 30 over the pre season has been signed.
The club is after several 'Value buys' with the word value strongly emphasised. Players that have to take a pay cut to stay at their existing clubs (think Alex Glenn) or players that other clubs will pay freight on.
I was told not to get my hopes up for any top end signings but we are after a decent signing from another club, if he can get a release.
We have had a few nibbles at a few players and have pulled out of negotiations as other clubs have pushed up the price.
On RCG we are paying about 20 -25 % of his contract per year for 3 years. The Eels will be paying his whole contract for the final 2 years.
