Then they deserve everything they get for being so stupid.

Whilst I agree that $1mil is overs, the Tigers were paying Matulino and Esan Marsters combined approx $1.2mil last year. When you consider Matulino only played 13 games (in which he averaged 37 minutes) and Marsters was generally terrible, on which option do you think the money would be better spent?

If Latrell played instead of those two last year then his goal kicking alone likley has Wests finishing 6th.

Latrell can kick goals and can probably play 1 through to 6 but best at centre of course. Add to that his marketability and I think he is worth in excess of 800k. Provided he goes to a club that can get the best out of him.

roosters got nothing close to the best out of him and he is still the best centre in the game. The talent he brings in on another level but he rarely plays to his potential. His talent with somewhere close to a James Graham or Cronk level of effort would make a future immortal.

Makes the difference between superstars and legends.

If you are twat unfortunately you most likely always going to be a twat. One decent shot or bad decision and chucks his toys away and goes missing. Up against a retreating bottom 4 defence and plenty of holes he cant get enough ball but has the rare talent to tear apart any defence in the world.

He is basically the lovechild of dave taylor and nick kyrgios. Just needs to imagine he is up against will chambers every game

Again, any club paying massive dollars for Matulino gets what they deserve.

I don't think either option should be considered by the Tigers. This is the same club that has paid for the retirement of Josh Reynolds who they gave close to 800K a season. WTF????

Tigers - do not give Mitchell anywhere near the 800K reportedly offered by the Roosters.

Yet despite all of that we finished ahead of certain teams who 5/6 Origin players this year.

Im not really sure what you want us to do? Do you think we sat there and said 'Ok now we have Cooper Cronk and Josh Reynolds both wanting to come here for $800kpa. Lets take a vote. Right Josh Reynolds it is!'

We developed the best player in the game and then he left us for LESS money then we offered him. Do you know how many current Origin players the Wests Tigers have signed in their 20 years? NONE. Not a single one. We arent going to lure Latrell Mitchell away from the Roosters for what they offered him. If we get Latrell Mitchell (which I dont think we will) then we will pay what we have too. Our coach knows how to manage a roster to win a Premiership. I'm confident he will do what is right.

I’d be very happy to get him but find it hard to believe that money is true. Roosters pull $800k off the table. Other clubs publicly pull out. Why would you go so high. Hope and doubt that money is true. In madge we trust

You wouldn't go so high.

Roosters have played this one very well. They offered overs to begin with at 800K. Then pull the deal - very publicly.

Clubs know what they need to offer for a centre, not a spine player, and out comes the plethora of names of people involved in advising him. What a shit show. Mundine publicly saying he must get every dollar he can etc.

Bulldogs shy away. They may have learnt from the past.

There is no doubt the Roosters have bent over backwards for him and managed him extremely well as they do for all their players. But Mitchell has been treated with kid gloves.

The fans who lost their minds over his axing from NSW obviously had their eyes painted on during origin 1. He deserved the axe. He did not have a go. And if he was having a go, then he is not as 'talented' as some think he is.

Another club pays marquee money for him such as the Tigers and all of a sudden a few weeks of 'quiet' performances or a week or two off to go home for some time out and the media and fans will be out of control.

As has been a habit for Latrell, that sort of scrutiny will have him on social media firing back. There's the next problem.

He can go through weeks of ordinary form at the Roosters as they can cover that due to the roster and the fact that they win a lot.

Not going to happen at the Tigers. On massive money, he has to perform more often than not. Can't ask for a week off here and there. That won't be as easy to cover at another club.

And then there is Madge.

Now, if he really wants to buy into it all, get off social media and concentrate on footy then the overs may not look so bad.

But the question most would want to ask - why on earth would you turn down 800K A YEAR to play centre at a club that has looked after you and is a better chance of winning a Premiership than most every season??? What more do you want?

His defensive positioning in 2016 at FB was atrocious.

Not saying it can't improve but it would be a massive work in progress.

He is a natural centre and that is by far his best position.

I dont dount that he is naturally a centre and as a Roosters fan, you would have seen a lot more of him at 1. But he was 19 in 2016. He is still only 22. At a club like Roosters with the talent available, then you have the luxury of slotting him at centre.

At the Tigers, or most other clubs he may end up at (if not back at Roosters) to get value for that money he will be fullback and speaking for the Tigers, he would be streets ahead of the next best option at no.1 (although I love Corey Thompsons effort).

There has been a lot of negativity about the guy lately, a lot from Tigers fans, that he "doesnt get involved enough". Well slot him at Fulback and he can get his hands on the ball each set.

ITs a long way from risk free, but the kid is 22 and has a MASSIVE ceiling at 1, 3 or even 5. If he fires at 1, you get your money's worth. If not, you will still get one of the worlds best centres at an inflated price.

Its an opportunity to good to pass up for the Tigers and I really hope we get him.

Totally left field question, long term do you think he has any potential for the worlds biggest no 6?

Valheru has answered that one. It could very well be a square peg into a round hole. Does a club just fork out a million a season to find that out?

Absolutely stupid.

The other issue is his fitness to play fullback.

Again, a lot needs to change for that to succeed.

But to say he'd simply go back to centre on overs does not address the huge issues you will have.

Marquee money and inconsistency when a team is not winning will be a huge issue.

And as you state, he is only 22.
