not a good sign for retention if true

I wonder of some halves pissed off as their route to NRL footy is pretty much blocked for some time

The off season continues to throw up curve balls, appears we have lost 3 Flegg halves and a number of other players have signed elsewhere.

New recruits will obviously appear, but Tigers and Dogs have feasted themselves the past few months. Happy to be proved incorrect, reminds pretty much of the period when DA was HOF and there was little focus on those under the NRL. ONeil is pretty much a process person and may be slower to work at junior level than when more autonomy was available to age player specialists.

As we move forward will be of interest to see what recruitment occurs for the reserve grade side as little is known at the moment regards to players.

Any good ones leave? I'd assume only the best would be poached.

As a club our focus should be on boom 2nd rowers and backs. I don't mind letting halves go. We have that sorted at NRL level for up to 8yrs.
We should be poaching other teams best juniors.
Without sounding like a broken record why don't Panthers ever lose good jnrs?
They all seem to stick around atleast till play NRL.

So,you don't recognise the number of Riff juniors playing at other clubs. Could be that Penrith is too far to travel, but never change your love of the Riff, they do no wrong and are a beacon of professionalism .

I reckon they over rate their juniors tbh.

Nah, I reckon it is more efficient to watch em play wherever they are till they're late 16 early 17, work out the top 6 and throw money at them. Frig the rest in terms of worrying about longer term futures, they're just a distraction.

Likely mentioned here already but Tigers look to have picked up Tyler Field, Salesi Fainga'a and William Kei alongside Taipari and Etu Lui?

What is the point keeping Taipari?
We have 3 good young halves and most likely will lose one. I dont see point on developing another for atleast 5yrs.
Salesi is a poor mans Pauli Pauli

The bloke stars in reserve grade while none of them even star in Jersey Flegg. I know which one is a better backup for first grade.

What a guys like Smith or Salmon would do in 20s....Step up is huge.
I'd be more concerned if let go a good centre or 2md roe

Salmon and Taipari are the same age too. Dylan Brown is a year younger than both. Why would we possibly want to keep Taipari?

We want players in positions where needed. The spines set. But if a good fullback come along we could put Guth to centre.
You always will find room for Props and 2nd rowers as plenty of spots.
