But, but ... We are a development club. The issue is not losing players as that happens, but there is a background problem. That may not concern you and others, but those with an interest at junior level see it as unhelpful
I'm wondering why the club is spending so much on juniors and we produce so few NRL quality players or other clubs grab them from us? Admittedly most of those gone might never amount to much but these clubs are willing to take the chance. W-T currently have about 4 of our juniors playing in their NRL side. Our return on investment with juniors is extremely poor and if it were run as a business it would have been canned years ago.

And we have 4 tigers players in our squad......Moses, Nrown, Gower and Stone ......I reckon we have the better ones......

Additionally their best player Matterson wanted out to join us.....

Yeah, but Wests are shit.
Those juniors they’ve taken from us haven’t really helped them play any Finals matches, have they?

The benefit to having a junior system such as ours is that we get to have first crack at the ones we think have the best chance of becoming first graders. It doesn’t always work out the way you think, but if we are identifying the right talent on a consistent basis then spending the money on these kids is worth it.
You will always lose a couple of decent players because there are only so many spots available in a squad, but it’s just about making sure the ones you keep are better than the ones you lose.

Another issue with our current squad in terms of keeping juniors is that we're already very young. We still probably need a bit more experience in the squad as it stands.

We need to keep good halves because Brown is going to struggle with the physicality of first grade. Back injuries are no joke.

Our exodus of juniors poached has reached an all time high, about 12 have gone or going with Stefano the latest.
'The reality is that the Eels can never keep every talented player. However, the club has allowed two of its three current Australian Schoolboys players to leave, and came very, very close to losing the third, the message is crystal clear that our club doesn’t value achievement.' (TCT)

My point still stands, we are spending probably millions on juniors and getting extremely little value for our money. And now we're not even keeping the juniors we should be. This raises a huge question from me, WHAT THE f**k ARE WE DOING??? One thing for certain, the only club NOT gaining any benefit from our investment is us.We apparently are a development club for every other club bar us.

Who gives a shit about Australian Schoolboys.
The amount of kids who played Australian Schoolboys and went nowhere is astronomical. It doesn’t mean much.

Would you have liked us to have signed Stefano for the amount Wests paid for him? Over $300k a year for an 18 year old who can’t even dominate Reserve Grade. Never played a game of First Grade. How about $200k a year? Should we be offering anything just to keep these kids? What’s the magic price?
