Capewell is talking about how kevvie has told him that he is a centre candidate for origin this year, maybe he signed with us with the assurance that he gets first crack at centre..hmm

Could work if push Naden to the wing and have Crichton/Capewell as the centres.

Backline would be:

1. Edwards
2. Naden
3. Capewell/Crichton
4. Capewell/Crichton
5. To'o

But that isn't even considering Whare and Mansour.

They were in camp last week when kevvie told him he might get picked in the centres.

Also from the article today bout Capewell:

“I am more than happy to play in the centres,” Capewell said.

“I have played plenty of centre in the NRL and it is good to be able to have that ability to chop and change, so if Kevvie gave me an opportunity to play in the centres I would take it with both hands and really embrace it.

“(But) obviously back-row is the No.1 goal, to try and nail that at club level and improve my footy and hopefully that will keep me in good stead for Origin level.”

Capewell is a very good footballer. I’d prefer him in the back row but most back rowers moonlight at centre if need be.

He covered centre well at the Sharks but I’d stick to Whare/Naden until the need to change arises.

Crichton has to be in there imo. Whare got dropped last year he isn’t a walk up start by any means. Naden filled a need at centre last year and he could do the job but he more suited to the wing.

The only issue is I don't see Naden being in the top 2 wingers at the club. If Mansour starts the season like he did in 2019 then sure, but I wouldn't even say that's likely, let alone guaranteed.

Agree on Crichton though. Give him a good shot and have Whare come in if things don't work out.

My back 5 would be:

1. Edwards
2. Sauce
3. Naden/Capewell
4. Crichton
5. To'o

Naden has a knack for scoring that Mansour has never had and he provides a great target for kicks. I think Mansour will be better than last season for sure but he isn’t a finisher and that is really what we need outside of Kikau.

I’d move To’o to the centres before Capewell, I’ve said it before but Too in the centres and Naden wing plays to both their strengths imo. To’o is small we don’t want him marking wingers the size of Oates if we can avoid it and Nadens defence and passing are poor for a centre, Too on the other hand has displayed quite a knack for making defensive decisions from the wing, I think he could step in one spot and be a very good defender, switching them helps them both.

Capewell isn’t a genuine option for a centre switch for mine. He can and will play there at times but he is a back rower, we aren’t going to convert him full time.

Nothing concrete but Souths are sniffing around one of our forwards for this year. They are still trying to get Arrow this season but it may cost them Liam Knight.

Josh Morris is the Roosters target, not Dugan.

Also Peach is at it again. He has instructed his manager to look for Sydney club.

I'd take a player swap for an outside back. For the right player of course.

Morris brothers both still underrated, smart signing if they get him.

And I can't imagine we'd be serious about getting Peachey, I think that ship has sailed.

If there are no additional signings/player swaps, then that 5 is who I would like to see start the season - Naden at centre though, and Capewell off the bench.

Although I do like John's idea above of swapping a forward to South's for Braiden Burns.

It’s been suggested Jack is training the house down so I couldn’t see it being him.

I think he’ll have a big year after his disastrous 2019.

I'd want to keep him too & agree, rate him highly. But he's likely down the pecking order to start the season whereas at Souths he'd be pretty close to the top 17 off the bat. I could see why he'd want to go, if it is him.

I hope its not Hetherington. He and Leniu are our only impact middle forwards.

I was looking forward to seeing Hetherington get in the right head space and making the 17 during the season

Tell Souths to go ELSEWHERE they created their problem, They are great in the backs but very light in the forwards. Why would we release any of our forwards UNLESS they are offering a good outside back like Braiden Burns not GAGAI etc!!

Agree. At this late stag so close to start of the season I don’t see why we would consider doing souths any favours.

I’m not so sure I wouldn’t rule him out of a bench spot for round 1.

I wonder who are they sniffing ? I personally would only take it on with a class centre being offered.

I won't say who it is yet, it may not happen, but I know the reason why Souths have picked up the scent. And I think there is another club watching too. A few little dominoes are about to fall at other clubs.
Souths do have another option elsewhere other than here.
IF it happens I will share the reason.

Please tell me it’s not Billy Burns....
