Alabama Express looks smart & tough but was much fitter than most of its rivals plus that Goatfield bias assists with its racing pattern.
Reckon Seth, Gator Blood & Catalyst are clearly the top 3yos at the moment.
Most of the rest are well behind.
Though to be fair with Biv, Godolphin/Cummings do place a lot of their better runners poorly race-wise.
Always going to be tough first up against older horses & seemed to be badly weighted.
Exceedance is the best 3yo

How do you rate the best 3yo though? Alligator Blood has won up to 1400m and was 2nd in the Caulfield Guineas. Catalyst has won up to 1600m, however hes only had the one run in Australia. Super Seth has won at 1200m and 1600m and was unlucky not to win last start against the older horses.

Exceedance certainly looks the best of the sprinters but I would argue the crop of horses in the Guineas this weekend are superior to that of Exceedance, Bivouac, Libertini, and Loving Gaby.

Havent even spoken on Probabeel who looks a huge improver on last spring. She could really light up the Autumn along with Funstar.

I could look like an absolute pelican after this but I don't think Alligator Blood or Catalyst are natural milers.. think they are both 1400 specialists.

Small field will suit them as they might not have to do much work but I am hoping that the 200-1 pop from the outside barrier goes forward and puts the speed on... If that is the case I think Soul Patch is a huge show.. Alabama Express the danger and wouldn't surprise me if my old mate Dalasan improves back at Flemington, beat Brandenburg there last prep over 1600m and that looks good form now.

Catalysts best run in his career was arguably at the mile but he is in to poison odds IMO. Unless that 200-1 goes to the front and annoys the Gator I can’t see anything troubling the top 2 bar Alabama Express but he only beat the older horses and has no form at all so he’s no hope.

Catalyst will win, I'm very confident. As for Alligator Blood the only way he gets close is if he hands up to Alabama Express and Catalyst has a tough run outside. Chenier will be improved but Cat meets him 3.5kg better... If Cat gets any sort of cover and isnt blocked for a run, he brains them.

Tend to agree, 2000 Guineas winner at the trip back home & that last run would’ve topped him off nicely.
Think Alabama is a bigger danger than Gator at the trip
