Time to put a bomb through the joint.

Identify the next coach and tap them up for 2022. Spend some money on the football staff, mainly addressing the downfalls in our game with specialists. Fix the attitude in the club that permeates through to the playing group. Let the new coach identify what players they will want and offer everyone else an out.

A giant rebuild is needed and it’s coming whether we like it or not so let’s get out in front of it. Scraping into the 8 in a 16 team competition is not success and should not be treated as such. Get ruthless.

Blah blah blah

Do you reckon John Morris asked to be under-resourced?

Do you think he signed these used players on giant contracts?

Do you have any idea how long it takes for young players to be first grade standard when they are brought in early?

Do I think John Morris will win us a premiership? No.

Do I think we will win a premiership in the next few seasons? No.

That is the sole reason this club should exist. To push for premierships. A rebuild is coming whether you like it or not.

To those who think I’m a drama queen. Explain to me the trajectory you see for the next few seasons and are you happy with that?

I agree he is not going to win us a premiership, I also doubt he has ability to draw players to the club, which means paying overs again.
He got the job by default.
If Paul Green misses job at Broncs chase him or Fitzgibbon both have linkage to the sharks

I'm surprised at you Ads. I had no idea you were such a wrist-slitter.

Yes, the final scoreboard was ugly and, yes, the Rooters were without troops.
But I'm with Bubby on this one. He posted elsewhere that he is not that unhappy with that loss, and neither am I.

Read through here pre-game and you'll find plenty predicting an absolute pumping of a 30+ point differential.

What we got was a vastly improved effort right across the park.
The defence looked more committed, they scrambled well and, for the most part, made good first contact.

Yes, there is still room for improvement but, from where they were a month ago I think they are on the improve.

Poor handling cost us dearly, as well as some really poor one-on-one misses but overall they played pretty well.

The trajectory for the next few season I see is upward.

There are only 3 players left from 2016. We have been on a downward trajectory since then, finishing 5th, 4th, 7th and 8th in the last 4 seasons respectively.

With some tweaking of the squad, I see next season finishing in the lower half of the top 8 again, possibly pushing for top 4. The seasons following will hopefully continue upwards with some astute squad refinements.

The big caveat for me is how long it takes SJ to recover. If he only misses a small portion of next season we should be happy with that. That gives Trindall and Tracey more time to develop their games and, by the time SJ is due to return, should mean there is more pressure on Chad. By mid next year I would expect him to be watching from the stands and one of the other two contenders partnering SJ in the halves. I'm hopeful that can take our attack up a level from this year.

Amongst the forwards you've got Teig Wilton coming through. He's looked likely, though a little green, and will be better for the run and another off-season under his belt. Pele should also see some game time next year and it will be good to see what he can bring to the side.

Overall, I think the squad is building pretty nicely but needs some fine tuning.

If you cast your mind back 12 months to when the decision was made to play out of Kogarah for the next two seasons, coupled with the loss of Gal, there were plenty in here who were prepared to write off 2020 and 2021 before a ball was even kicked.

To be playing finals under the circumstances is a pretty fair achievement IMHO.

If you have a coach that you know cannot bring you a premiership, why do we choose to keep him?

I’m a realist not a wrist slitter. A rebuild is coming. It has to. I just want to get out in front of it so it takes 2/3 years not 4/5. I don’t understand why anyone would fear such a thing. We are where we are because of poor planning and unless you think Morris is the answer I can’t understand the mentality that we should just continue floating along like this. You know the clubs who are serious wouldn’t.

Just a glance at our future recruitment or lack of shows where we are at. People wanted us to sign Tamou for some reason. What’s he going to do? Pick up a retirement fund while we continue to hover in mid table?

IMO now is the perfect time to rebuild the club. Get our shit in order so that when we return to shark park with a shiny new leagues club we are ready to go forward. Invest in coaching, continue bringing the youngsters through and remove whatever high paid players we can and reinvest.

Connor Tracey is shit, shouldn't be anywhere near FG, would not make the extended bench on any of the top 6 teams. Having said that, the finals lineup will be 7-Chad 6-Trindall 14- Tracey. If all is right by fulltime next week.

The rebuild is on.

Have you ever been to a construction site? It’s not pretty.

27 out of 30 of the GF squad are no longer here. The rebuild has been happening for the past 2-3 seasons. Youth is being brought through, and it will continue next year.

The lack of recruitment is largely attributable to being hamstrung by cap constraints.
That eases up next year, though I don't really see any established players available who would bring anything more to our squad than what we already have. You don't just spend money for the sake of it.

Tamou, while well past his prime, would be a great addition to the squad: a forward leader with upwards of 250 games experience. Someone to help bring the young guys through and show them the ropes of NRL. Not just on the field, but off it as well. Fifita looks pretty much cooked and we need someone to fill that void should he fall over at any point next year.

The only players I really see available on the market are either untested youth, or middle-of-the-road journeymen. Why take a punt on that when we can just invest in developing our own youth?

You don't just clean out the joint and go to market in the hope that it will call come together.
This is a pretty tight-knit squad by the looks of it, and most of them with plenty of time left in their career.
Some minor additions here and there would be great, but a clean out is overkill IMHO and would set us back another 3-5 years.

I don't think he's that bad. He is dangerous with the ball in hand, but needs a partner to steer the side around and just let him run.

To be fair, I like the sound of a Trindall, SJ pairing more but from what I've seen I think they both prefer to play right side so maybe that is why Tracey is getting the game time.

Time will tell.
