Blow It Up

What do you see as Morris' flaws?

Without wanting to labour the point as others have said he's working with a roster he didn't build, he's only had one offseason as head coach, is lumbered with overpaid underperforming players and working with a cap fine.

I think the jury is out as to whether he can take us to a premiership but I'm certainly not putting a line through him.

Next year without a cap penalty and with a likely ability to go to market for 2022 with cash in the bank will be the real test.

Making the finals twice in 2 years gets Morris a pass mark from me.

Maybe barking up wrong tree here but Im wondering if Morris is not also answering to directors who are focused on keeping fans while saving money and playing entertaining attacking football while we wait for our own home ground without losing fans by playing boring defensive football.Pure speculation on my part , however I do know directors do have power to influence direction of CEOs ,Head Coaches and such.

I think it’s probably more a case of whoever took over from Flange was bound to look pretty creative following on from Flannoball. Geez I don’t miss Gals 5th tackle settlers but having said that it was worth copping a few years of Flannoball to get the monkey off our back.

As long as Chad is halfback, stand in captain, goal kicker, Sharks media liaison, social media manager, chief player interviewer, Co coach when injured, andsupporters club marketing guru for the next two years.
Sure go blow the club up

Bomber will probably select Big game Chad for the finals

Trindall/ Tracy is the better option. But I bet he goes Trindall / Chaddy. Put the best attacking option on the bench for 60min.

I go chad / Tracy.

If he doesn’t play Chad in a sudden death final where we are missing our other 2 most experienced spine players in sj and Moyza...then why hasn’t he cut him loose already?

Chad has been bad this year, but Morris has got to roll the dice he can recapture something when it matters. A trindall/ Tracy combo just has no chance....unless Morris has:
- completely given up hope of winning a game in the finals, and
- committed to offloading Chad before the start of next season.

Of course he goes Chad.
Seriously... Anybody thinking bomber goes into the semi without chad at 7 has to be taking the pizz.

He brought him straight back after 6 weeks out for a regular game so he has shown Chad is one of the first picked. The fact we lost that comeback game of chads plus the fact we all know he is a ballsack of a halfback means nothing to the coach.

This is a knockout must win sudden death game and a 7 who has played many finals and even a GF is a must.
Even moreso now that SJ is goneski.

Trindall and Tracey?
The week leading up - and in the sheds pre-game. Who handles it best?

Im a fan of Traceys but theres been times where be just gets a rush of blood and overplays. He gets excited - which is good - because he so wants to put on the winning play but hes just not there yet.
There was the forward pass to morris in round 1 and poor kicks in recent weeks. Having said that l prefer what he brings to chad because he plays straight and he runs to the line.
However he just doesnt have chads composure for a sudden death game.

Whereas Trindall...heres a guy who slotted in to his limited first grade opportunities when chad was injured with great maturity.
Superb kicking game. Ran the ball - looked for holes and flicks out the back.

You go Chad and Trindall. But trindall cant just be left to play for scraps. He has to take control of one side or you might as well play me at 6. If chad commands all the first ball our best hope is to win 2 nil.

Tracey is easily in our best 17. Bomber knows this and picks him.
I would seriously consider throwing a curveball at whoever we play and go duges at 1 and Tracey at centre.
Defence combo with the winger will be the issue but he will go all day at his opposite and love the battle. He is fast and tough and l reckon him chasing through wades kicks will be a highlight.

I love Talekai out wide but dont see him working as well with wade. He is our most penetrating runner at the moment and bomber needs to find the smartest and most effective way to use him.
If chad had any joey johns or thurston about him he would get talekai one on one with a defender 10 metres out - and it would be try time every time. But we dont have a play maker with that ability or smarts.
Maybe brailey or trindal but not TOTT.

Chad will walk into the side and this forum will implode, it's gonna be a wild ride for the forum tragics!

Problem with the potential halves combos is Tracey, Townsend and Graham are all left-side specialists, Trindall is the only right side option. Not sure where Bomber goes with it, but with that being so, and with Talakai being our form backrower for the whole season, I can almost see him using Graham and Trindall in 6 & 7 this week, and Graham and Townsend for the first final.

I honestly don't think Tracey offers more than Townsend other than a bit of pace, his short kicking game is weak and his decision making is even worse than Townsend... he's actually a bit of a Chad clone (re-watch the Roosters game and tell me who his inside balls remind ya of).

If Chaddddyyyy doesn’t play - it’s likely he’s gone, can’t see it happening though.

if Johnson hadn/t been injured there'd be a continuity argument for retaining the Johnson/Tracey combo and it'd be possible.. but with SJ out, no NRL coach would run a rookie halves combo of Trindall/Tracey.
(plenty on this forum would though haha)

Unlike obviously a few here I've never played and/or coached NRL. But I've listened to a lot who have and they all seem to rate experience very highly.

Chad has played 166 games (a good chunk of those were consecutive) and out of 10 seasons in NRL he's only not played finals 3 times, only 1 of those non-finals years were with us in 2011, the other 2 at NZ.

There is no coach past, present or future who picks a 16 game (most as utility) Tracey or 4 game Trindall over Chad.

I am waiting to see how Big Game Chad steps up and delivers

If Wade plays 6 this week, it would seem to be a prelude to the semi final line up. Wade and Chad both play left but Chad played right before. Tracey would go to to 14.

This game would have been a good chance to play Trindall at right. He needs games to improve and has more upside than Tracey but Morris sees it differently, it seems.

It’s gonna be embarrassing losing to the Raiders reserve grade team that hasn’t played a game for 6 months...
