30 yld with no upside
Players with upside don't bring maturity, and they often cost plenty, because they get paid for potential. Anyway, whether we sign Oldfield or not we will have quite a few outside backs with upside in our squad, including a couple in the top 30.

54, which is less than half as many as Cameron Smith!

But losses is a far less relevant stat than wins, for judging a player's quality.
If any player contributes to his team's losses then that is most certainly a relevant stat when it comes to judging his quality.

Every player contributes to losses, but losses alone don't say much about a player - Cam Smith has almost as many losses as Tim Mannah but the gulf in quality between them is huge. However, number of wins is a very good proxy for overall quality, better even than win rate. For instance Maika Sivo has a better win rate than Daniel Tupou. It just doesn't reflect the prolonged success of Tupou compared to Sivo.

Obviously every stat needs some context, but for quick comparisons such as are comprehensible by most NRL fans, total wins is a decent gauge of a player. Compare it to his age in some way (maybe age minus 17 or 18) and it's even more relevant. Wins per season doesn't quite get there because it doesn't distinguish between young stars like Drown and late bloomers (who are usually deficient in some area) like Sivo.

Credit to the Bulldogs in the how they’ve gone about rebuilding their club, they will be a force in the next couple of years once again, they are never down for long...yet we are continually “chasing our tails” and forever in a rebuild faze and for some reason always a very short premiership window, and looking at a couple of our new signings, the above will continue, Fact fact fact !!!!!!

In the last 13 seasons the dogs made the top 8 a total of 6 times.
They missed it for the last 4 seasons.

What makes you think they will be a force?

They signed Hethrington who has promise to be a handy NRL player.
Cotric who I thinks a good player but they paid him overs. 600k. Gee
Flanagan who attracted no interest from other clubs.

Not convinced on any of these signings to change their fortune.

Didn't we have something like 11 players leave? Most of them down the lower end of the top 30. It seems to me that we are trying to fill the lowest ends now to see what money we have left to get some higher quality ones for the last few spots. Journeyman are usually happy to come for min wage as they know their worth. Young players get talked up by their managers and get way overvalued for their early years eg. Stefano

What? Really? They signed a couple players .......to get off the bottom......f**k they haven’t made the finals for the last 4 years ....while we have made the finals 3 out of the last 4 years......

Rather be in our “rebuilding” phrase (which we aren’t) than the dogs “rebuilding phrase”.......

If the Dogs sign JAC they have had a pretty good off season. Won’t get them n the 8 but it will get them up the ladder.

Doubt JAC will sign with them, after the success he has had at Storm he'll only sign for a team with potential to win gf. Would be good if we got him but BA would then have to trade either Fergo or Sivo for him and he wouldn't like to disappoint them so can't see it happening.

I anticipate a much stronger competition next season. Souths finished the season strong and are recruiting well. Im confident they will have an even better year. Canberra can improve with Hodson on deck but they will miss their gun Pom.
Titans, St George, Canterbury, Brisbane, Cowboys and Manly will improve. Who knows how Wests, Cronulla and Warriors will perform but Im figuring they will be competitive.
A huge test for BA next season. His 4 best players continue to train and remain in the bubble. Will this have an effect? Post the last World Cup our rep players were dissappointing. Ill excuse Kevans though because he broke his arm and it took him 3 years to recover fully. Poor bastard.
Additionally there will be 14 plus new players many of which are yet to be signed/promoted plus a host of CC Players.
A repeat of 3rd position will be a massive result but is it possible? I am looking forward to fellow forumites thoughts in the 2021 Predictions Thread. Roll on 2021.
