Yes and no. RCG was given a 5 year deal Waqa wasn’t. Regardless if you believe the media we are talking about a maximum of $500K probably much less, not ideal but not the sole reason we are where we are now.

Blake was given a 4 year deal with 1 year remaining, so effectively a 5 year deal. I never said it was the sole reason, but if we had an extra 500k then Crichton and Leniu would be under no threat at all.

According to Bulldog ritchie the Bulldogs opened up their bank accounts to the tune of almost $620,000 per season.

I'm pleased Penrith have chosen to let him go for that kind of money..

According to Bulldog Ritchie Dogs are saying that Crighton's preference is to stay at Penrith. Dogs believe they will have to offer at least $700,000 a season to prize Crighton to Belmore. That is a huge amount of money for a player who is not in the spine.


The dogs are spending big. Will it work out well for them. No real standouts for Hooker or the forwards. Will this big spending spree prove worth it ? I have my doubts.

2 rookie players in the halves. Could work well, or be a disaster.

Because we shouldn’t even be in this position. Hetherington never should’ve been released until Leniu was locked up.

Leinu going doesn't suddenly fix Hetherington's issues though. $400k was too much to spend on someone always suspended. I think both are seperate issues like Hetherington was shopped around last year.

I would say your probably on the money if that's the case. Sounded more than a bit desperate. Penrith were never going to front up with that type of money.

If they redeem themselves on the current position then I’ll say so, but right now it’s been poor.

I Totally agree. I see Hetherington a bit like Dave Taylor one who never filled their potential.

Clearly topping up salaries for players to play elsewhere is not ideal far from it.

I’m just not sure it is an excuse for where we are currently.

All I say is we should have been much better placed and I’m just not sure why we are paying such a heavy price.

Highly unlikely on the two youngsters. Maybe they get a player swap, but they’ll release Burton and Laurie.

I have a rather off beat approach I watch closely the videos Penrith put out during the off season. I knew before the season even began we were in for a good ride. Just seeing how fit and pumped the players were.

Sure Trent has moved on but the conditioning staffs remain the same (it appears). Many on this forum didn't rate Barratt because of his work at Manly. This year many don't rate Webester. I wait and see how the boys look, and see how the trials go down before making a judgement.

Penrith have this wonderful ability to bring kids through, they do it so well.

2021 still has great potential.

Many things out of the clubs hands. Season structure for starters. Not knowing the cap

The fact the SOO series finished with 16 players from both sides unsigned for 2022 after Nov1 shows it is a comp wide issue

Thats all fine and dandy but you are excluding our captain and half a dozen others no longer with us 2021.

We haven’t done well there is no defending it mate. Maybe it was an impossible ask I don’t know but our situation is not good and I am disappointed.
