Simon literally needs to step up (and play the ball) He tends to either get dominated or spend time looking at the referee and has a super slow play the ball.

Perhaps Dunster will play it more quickly and allow Gutherson to get out of dummy half for meterage?

He defended against the Storm and Olam. He faced plenty of overlaps during his games this season, but showed plenty of calm. He was referred to as the 2nd coming of Ruben Wiki on occasion. Defensively he was surprisingly good, despite being tested

Olam got outside him pretty easily. The only time Niukore got the better of him was when Olam was chasing the collision. Lucky it was wet.

Or do you assume the opposing coaches decided not to run plays to overlap the prop defending out wide... lol...

Coaches don't target centres so much as they target halves. And with Moses and Drown swapping sides they were all targeting our left side defence... lol...

As soon as Drown was replaced by Arthur that all changed.

if the coaching staff saw after the Manly game that it was JA being lost in defense, they should've had matto at 6 against souths.

JA is slow. I reckon Matto would be faster than JA.

But they thought it was a Waqa and Fergo thing so shifted Waqa.

Would've been better to have Matto at 6 with another forward, even Emu on the bench

I haven't seen any release yet to say Fergo was dropped or if he's just resting some injury. Guess something will leak eventually.

Slowest ptb of all teams in the comp and Sivo would be the absolute slowest individually. Another long term issue that "We know the problem and we know how to fix it". Ffs.

don’t know about that. As a team We are struggling to make line breaks from anywhere on the field. We know he has the ball playing skills to put someone away but he rarely uses it. We know he can break the line but can’t remember the last time he’s done that. Maybe the coach is using him wrong.

Through all this side shuffling, has he been tried on the left hand side? We barely use our backrowers in attacking positions but I can only remember him playing on right.
Papa has been good but I think skills wise Matto is the better edge forward. And I think given the greater potency of the rest of our left side attack compared to the right, we’d see Matto being able to use those skills more.
And I don’t think Papa or Lane would lose anything by playing on right.
Maybe as I said the other day it might be a good change towards end of season

Matterson started the year on the left (moving over with Moses) but during his time off Papali'i replaced him. When he returned he replaced Lane on the right.

I feel people overlook what W.Smith brings to the side. He was missed when injured and glad he is back. He adds spark and can be the creative 14 we need.
Hope he stays fit and gets a few good mins. Adds so much to the side.

That’s a great pickup. I don’t notice anyone in yellow that isn’t a regular first team player. Can anyone spot Penisini or Makatoa in blue in the other pics?

I think he is being used wrong - he's being used as a power runner, which he can do; but Matterson offers a bit of speed, foot work, and a good offload and passing game.

But for some reason, he's just being used as a battering ram.

He is so much better than that.
