Dare say it’s all / a combination of..

One team city
Strategic marketing n development
Sustained success on the field
Many elite players over the years
Little/no player scandals
Strong Qld links

So effectively a team outside the heartland states is the most popular in the NRL. Proof that “true expansion” can work when there’s effective strategy, investment and commitment.

Brisbane Mk2 isn’t expansion, it’s consolidation. True NRL expansion is when you establish a team into a new area, without previous/existing NRL (or its former entities) presence. The last time this happened was….

The Melbourne Storm, 1998.

It's due to their success on the field no doubt, you can hardly say Rugby League in Victoria is booming, have they developed a local one yet?

They've got one of the elite coaches in the game and a great eye for talent in QLD/NZ.

It’s because they’re good. People like to follow a winning team. And they’ll be a winning team for at least the next 5 years.

True expansion is when you can produce your own players.

They know that they aren’t truly the most supported. Otherwise the CEO wouldn’t be crying about the prelim crashing with the kick-and-giggle-GF.
