You’re right. Keeping experienced premiership winners Gutho, RCG and Nrown will keep those premierships rolling.
Every premiership winner was once a non-premiership winner. These guys consistently get us to the finals and this year we performed quite well. I reckon they're finally getting it together as a leadership group.

Yes, but we offered him probably what he was worth, others just offered ridiculous overs.

Anything less than something that starts with a 6 is lowballing Mahoney, and he knows it.

If we weren't prepared to pay him something that at least started with a 6 we can't expect him to stay.

To be honest in the current climate, something beginning with a 7 is not overs for probably one of the top 5 hookers in the game.

Edge backbones who can't tackle, Kikau and Leilua, are reportedly going to get $800k and $700k respectively. Niukore is getting something that starts with a 6! In fact Niukore and Mahoney are likely to earn around the same for 4 years from 2023....
Those guys will all run the ball 10-20 times a game. Mahoney might do it five times.

Not happy about losing Mahoney and the other 2 but......

It's not the end of the world. Over a season ago Reed was establishing himself as an NRL player and the other 2 were just fringe players and/or NSW Cup players. BA turned them into very good players so much so that other clubs were willing to pay overs for all 3.

No reason why he can't do it again, there are plenty of fish in the sea.

2023 is a fair way off and we gotta get through 2022 yet.

it will be interesting to see how Matt Burton feels with all these massive contracts being handed out to his new team mates. Bulldogs got him for a bargain 350-450k. You have a hooker on 700k and all these second towers on 800k. He’s going to be feeling ripped. Burton will be a brilliant 5/8 and commanding 800k-1 mill. He will not be happy!
Gus said eariler this year apprantley no one has been underpaid when he has worked at a club

And we know Gus never talks any shit

I think it was closer to 600 for 2yrs and a player option for 3rd. This will their their cap. He will cost 1.1 mill.

If we are smart we should sniff nrd some of there juniors and see if any are worth getting.
Doorey and Farina Mariner would also be worth a look in.

On a slightly less important issue

I wonder how long it will be before Gus is paying part freight of these long contract players to play for other clubs, a la RCG and Blake et al

Gus loves a long contract

Brandon Hands. Few on Penrith forum rate him and reckon he is an NRL level hooker.
