G’day all
Apologies if this is on the wrong thread and /or it’s already posted elsewhere, but I’m saddened to learn that “Parra Pete” Montgomery has passed away. Parra was larger than life, absolutely obsessed with our Eels, but most importantly an incredible human being. He was and always will be an icon of Hay and Country Rugby League in general. Adored by all who knew him, Parra contributed significantly across many sectors of life, was mischievous, loved any sort of banter and went above and beyond to help anyone who needed it.
Parra touched the lives of so many and will be incredibly missed.
RIP mate.
Just came in to post this.
sad news, due to his health Parra moved to Albury a while back but still made the trip back to Hay for this seasons presentation night. He is a local legend in Hay and bush footy in general. I only messaged him about a month ago to get some intel on some players. He was always up for a chat about footy. We had some mutual friends from Hay so I have heard plenty of stories.
Parra Pete was a true gentleman and I’m very saddened to hear but his passing.
RIP Parra, you will be missed.

Just read the news about Parra Pete Montgomery and must admit it sat me back a little.
The man was a legend and while I met him just once, we DM'd a lot until about 2017.

No one had a better memory for specific games at Cumberland than Pete.

Parra through and through till the end (except when he decided Furner and Canberra were his team for a season or two) 🫣

RIP legend.

Cheers for doing this mate

I was just going to post something on this as I am facebook friends with Mr Montgomery, and have just seen his page.....hit me like ton of bricks that he has passed 😟

I knew he was quite ill few years back but he pulled through that..

I absolutely loved his stories and he shared quite a few on his social page, as well as long and winding jokes that often had a simple but funny punchline. Loved his township of Hay and local country footy like nothing else

RIP Mr Montgomery (Parra Pete)

On Walsh he will never reach Haynes level because he just doesn't have the size.
He’s still a kid and already has a premiership, Clive Churchill and MOM in his first match for Australia.

To say he’ll never reach Haynes level when he has more than a decade left in the game is insane.
