If I had to sign Moses on 1.5 mill/year or get Luke brooks for 500/y, the 1.5 mill doesn’t look too bad all of a sudden.

And don’t read too much into what roosters players are on. Lavish golf days ensure the players are well looked after by uncle nic.

It's a balancing act right? Do you stick to your guns and risk losing your marquee half, knowing if you do you're likely having to reset your goals and re-build for 3-4 years....or do you jettisoned n a couple of fringe forwards or backs hoping to shave the 200K (+ or -) a year you need to keep the marquee half and hope for some luck and a youngster or 2 to step up and land that Premiership in that timeline you're tracking against... After 36 years, I'd go the latter route....

I just plucked those figures from the air. Of course there’s a line. But like I said, what would the alternative be? It’s easy to say he’s on overs but if his replacement is overrated hack, or an average rookie half, and we become cellar dwellers, with the hack and/or the rookie, would it be worth it?

look what happened to our hooker. We’ve lost a potential great, long term prospects, for an injury prone aging player. Were we better off, paying a little more and ‘overs’. Yes but the Dogs paid $650k for a hooker because they don’t have a half. Gus said the other day on his pod that elete 7s are rare as hens teeth. So he was prepared to pay more than market for Reed because he needed something decent in his spine. The only way he will get a decent 7 is to stick with an Ok Flanno or fingers crossed develop one. Even then the player won’t peak until he’s 26/27.

So in a side where you’re paying $800+ for your 1, 6 & 7 you can’t compete with the Dogs or Tigers. Especially when your 6 & 7 values are on the rise.

I have a bad feeling, our team will be disassembled over the next couple of yrs, we are not like the big clubs who don’t lose players, they want to keep, I also believe as stated before, our players prefer the $$$$ as opposed to winning the comp like the top clubs, they don’t have the affinity with Parra, therefore move on, I honestly don’t know why, though?

The clubs that are like that are Storm and Roosters and more recently Panthers. Each of them has a bit of an us v the world angle and have been lucky with leadership. We have been unlucky as we don’t have strong leaders Guth is strong but is a grub when it comes to money/loyalty (gives the opposite message).

We have squad imbalance now in the sense that we don’t have any outside backs. But if you have excellent halves it can overcome certain imbalances and keep winning as we are going. I’d prefer to pay overs for Moses and Brown and scratch together outside backs.

Well the reason we are a contender is because of middles reg jnr and Brown. If we had Kaufusi and Maka as our starting props we’d drop significantly with or without Reed.
