no it’s a sign of how incapable they are of building a contributing fanbase. Nrl is happy theyre are so reliant, allows them to justify playing games at sht times.
They have built a fan base, it’s on tv

that’s why their tv deal is more than afl lol

If that stadium were in Sydney it would be considered below average

it’s got at best one good stand.

even Canberra has a better stadium than that one

indeed it would be one of the worst nrl grounds by the time they get in

the corporate facilities look primitive
It’s 4 sided and got 20,500 capacity with 18,000 seats. It’s ok, not brilliant not terrible. the east stand is brilliant Though, right on top of the action. Spending another $35mill on it this year As well.
Hopefully one of the areas the nrl is negotiating with wa govt on is finishing off the refurb With a new west stand and a roof over the south stand. Get it up to around 26-27k with that and it will be great. good location, near main entertainment area, on train lines. spot on.

clubs could earn a lot more having them at the stadium rather than in their settees.

$403 mill isnt more than $473mill for the umpteenth time.

Trolling aside it’s average at best

it’s really not good enough though of course much better than the wacca was originally for the reds

It looks like it would need another 200 million at least which for the money they’ve spent could’ve gotten a commbank

the arlc should try and con them into a whole new stadium

that’s part of the problem, it shouldn’t be impossible for nrl clubs to earn more from fans and game day revenue than they get from the tv grant, but they are mostly sht at building active customer base and the nrl has compromised that ability by agreeing to sht game times.
With the right placement of teams we could average 20k across the league, provided games weren't scheduled at 6pm Friday and were only booked for centralised stadia.

Agree, hopefully they don’t get the rights in the future and conflict is over lol
The only way the conflict is over is if they sell the Broncos.

Even if they lose the rights they'll probably still bid for them again, when they come up for renewal.

Broadcasters should NOT own teams.

it was a really stupid decision by the last govt to spend $120mill on it rather than just bite the bullet and build a new stadium next door to optus. They spent all that money on infrastructure for optus that having a new stadium there would have been totally justified. As is it’s already had $155mill some and probably needs around another $150mill to finish it. Can’t see them changing direction to a new stadium having just spent that sort of money on it sadly.
Be nice when it’s finished though lol it’s a very compact stadium for its size so generates a great atmosphere.

None of which makes any difference that between nso and sfs it would make no sense to play at nso. If you don’t think that game can get more than 16k attending id have to question why take a game to sydney at all?
Yes but WA is unknown territory, what were the Reds average crowds when they were in the NRL. V'Landys isn't a fan of WA possibly because he feels that they would be another Melbourne who after 24 years still don't have a local home grown player in their NRL squad

They were never the lowest in the comp and higher than a number of sydney clubs who had decades head start to build a fanbase.

If Vlandys thinks Storm are a problem the game has no hope lol. In AFL heartland they have built a good crowd, a large membership and a massive tv audience, and now make a profit. They have one of the highest NRL debut in first team ratios of any club. I mean how many clubs are ticking that many boxes let alone an expansion club in afl territory?

The reality is for Victoria until the NRl stops pssing about with funding for the state and seriously invests in it there simply isnt enough kids playing the game to have a large number coming through at first grade. Its a $ in first graders out equation. Storm spend big running their own victorian teams plus helping with funding on sunshine coast but they cant get participation rates up on their own, thats NRLVic's job with funding from the ARLC. There's $25million less spent on grassroots last year, no wonder the new markets are struggling.

So the fact the reds weren’t the lowest in the game is a justification for poor crowds

I think you need a new barrell to scrape you’re done with that one

Dolphins aren't a plastic club they have been in existence since 1947.

How does Titans fare in ratings/crowds? That is a plastic club and what you want to avoid with team 18

are they poor in context though if they arent the lowest? And is it justification for believing a team 30 years later wouldnt work? Id suggest not.

not as badly as some. You only have to look at their first 4 years to see the potential if they can get their sht together.

North Beach Sea Eagles have been around for 75 years maybe they should be given a license lol? Dumb old school parochial thinking.
